I think the easier question to answer is what hasn't happened to Ellix Powers. I heard he was broke like a month after the tourney score, and he hangs around poker rooms trying to get a stake.

I know Ellix very well he ran a private game here in colorado 6 months after his tourney score and he was very close to broke and I'm positive that very few can say that he wasn't a very bad drunk.
he started off running a 10-20 hk hold em game but wasn't able to play any higher than 4-8 with a very minimum buy in. He's a very nice guy but has a drinking problem imo but he is very solid at limit hold em when sober.
I saw him at wsop 3 yrs ago and he was looking for a stake and was sober.

I remember that score and everytime they showed him he had a couple of goombahs hanging on him. I figured they probably took most of his $40K.

A while back I was playing at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN and a dealer was telling me about how Powers was in town once for their annual Fall Poker Classic tournaments.

He was saying that apparently a lot of the players and dealers would gather at a local establishment to mingle, drink, etc. before and/or after the tournaments that run daily during the FPC. The dealer also said that Powers was trying to hit virtually every person around up for a stake and was also trying to use his 'reputation' (quoted on purpose obv) so people would be more apt to buy him in.

Not that this story should surprise anyone, but we are talking about Elix ITT...

Someone linked an article about him not too long ago on this board. He entered some low-limit tourney, drank, got abusive, busted out, and departed the casino in an angry fashion. Not surprising?
