Just discovering this thread now, which has had me somewhat flustered over the past couple hours. First, upon hearing this news, about what had happened and then reading about the remarkable recovery in progress.

I only recently returned to 2+2 after about 3 years away (more like 7 really since that's when I really stopped posting a lot and following what was happening) but something I hadn't mentioned was a big part of WHY I had returned.

My own life over the past 5 years has had it's own ups and downs but the past couple in particular have been very transitional for me. In the process of thinking a lot about what the good moments in my life were and the things I have been proud of I found myself reflecting on my time posting here and playing SNGs a lot.

In thinking about this, I started to search old archives and that sort of thing, and I am not sure why, but I stumbled upon Kevin's youtube channel and a couple videos he posted in which he talked about his start in poker and how some of my old posts had been helpful. Maybe I was just in a dark place at the time, but seeing those comments from a successful player and such a bright optimistic person as Kevin really brightened my day. Not in any small way either. At times in the past I had felt that much of what I had said back then really hadn't amounted to much but here was evidence right in front of me and presented just matter of factly but also with genuine kindness that someone had benefited in a real way.

Then, if I had done Kevin any favors with SNG advice in 2004, he returned them in kind. I watched most of his youtube videos and marvelled at what he'd accomplished and the way the game had changed. Most importantly, I took a lot out of his goal-setting, motivation style videos. I started to take pride in my poker past again and I got the itch to get back in the game.

After that I returned to poker indirectly -- I started to teach my girlfriend poker. She had been interested for a while and had messed around online some but I had never really indulged her with taking too much of an interest. Anyway, I started to talk with her a lot and I started to sit with her while she played. A couple months later and she had a few 180 man SNG wins along with a few deep runs in regular MTTs (and a growing balance). This has brought us quite close together and really helped my confidence. Now, I am back in the game myself.

And so here I am back on 2+2 and happy about it. This is probably only my 10th post since being back -- But I can safely say, I am back because of Kevin. Most importantly, my life has taken a real turn for the positive of late. I am learning again and in a lot of ways it feels like 2004 again.

I'm not sure if I ever wondered why those 47 youtube videos stopped about 6 months ago. I probably didn't think much about it. After all, I only found them 2 months ago. Now I know and I am wishing all the best for Kevin and everyone close to him. Best of luck on your recovery.

It's not like he broke his foot or something. Kevin was bleeding from his brain and put in a coma. He can take as long as he wants.
