only met him 2 or 3 times both while playing around vegas. he was just as kind as could be. one of the few internet kids who is genuinely fun to talk to and have at your table. so many kids are just boring as hell and i despise having at the table, not so much because they are good but because they bring the mood of the table way down. kevin is the exact opposite.

in a weird way, and as much as it hurts to read stuff like what apathy wrote, kevin's situation has helped keep me grounded the past few days because i can't imagine my life being as bad as his currently is. i hope for the best, he is a very good player and a kind person. we need more phwap's on the felt for sure.

Anyone know what the diagnosis was? AVM, ruptured cerebral aneurysm, HTN bleed?

I retract my last statement; I see its an AVM. Not the worst case scenario(however, very serious obv), but still early from initial brain insult and how he does depends on extent of cerebral edema, ICP control, whether or not seizures manifest, infections, etc. This is very sad though. Wishing him a full recovery.

Don't know him, never met him. I shipped some money for the movie Kickstarter so I'm going to ship double that for this.

Seeing as that was for the good of the poker community it would seem a heinous act of hypocrisy not to. I hope others feel the same and we see these numbers climb.

I know someone who has suffered from the exact same condition. This happened to the person approximately 5 months ago and the person is still in coma but stable and slightly improving. The chances given to the person before entering the operating room to remove the blood clot was 2-5 percent chance of immediate survival. This person should be around 30-40 years older than Kevin and dr's mentioned that age is a key factor in the chances the person can recover. So hopefully Kevin can use his strength and youth fr a faster recovery however it is definitely going to take time if he does manage to recover.

Wow this is really a very young guy. Was there a fall or some kind of accident with a severe head bump?? At least good help and support was close by. Might make the difference.

I watched the kevinpwhap youtube vids and he seems cool and gave good advice for free.

I did remember him from wsop 2010 because he got a lot of respect from Phil Galfond, the best poker player in the world, so that tells you how good Kevin must be at poker.

As others have said, didn't know him personally or anything but watched his youtube vids and thought he was a great, upbeat seeming genuinely good person. Rooting hard for him to recover.

Sadly, I've known Kevin for years. On Monday night I was visiting at the hospital and Kevin's dad asked us to go win a bracelet for Kevin, a lot of Kevin's friends ran deep in the 6m including Jon little and Andrew Robl, I was really hoping one of us would win but it wasn't meant to be.

It would be really nice if all the ridiculous posts about this could be deleted so people can get actual facts about what is going on.

I realize Kevin has a congenital anomaly but after reading the drugs in poker thread and learning that this happened in the middle of a tournament I can't help but hope that he was smart enough not to mess with those poker performance enhancing drugs.

I watched some of his you tube videos too and he came over as being a really nice, positive and gentle soul. I watched the Pokernews video of his friends telling their stories about him and the dude telling the story about swapping 20% in a MTT at the PCA got me all choked up. It's a cliche when people say "at least you've got your health" and often times when folk say this we just let it go in one ear and out the other, but man...the older i get i realize it's so true. I wish him, his family, friends and girlfriend all the best.

I donated on his page. Never met him but seems like everyone that has come into contact with him has nothing but good things to say. Every bit helps and his dad also sent me a personal e-mail after I donated and seemed like a real nice guy. Best of luck in his recovery.
