If I had to guess, it was probably mutual (or more at Andy's insistence). Don't think Todd would leave given choice.

Strange no update from the usually very active Todd Brunson twitter account. Good for him if true.

50 big bets HU is not that much at all. I actually played 20/40 LHE HU last night and won $4k off of a guy, 100 big bets. Only took like 3 hours.

Either one of them could get felted with 5 mega in that game pretty easily just due to standard variance. Unless Beal is just absolutely awful.

Over/under on 10 or more people backing Brunson in this game? (Not that we can ever know the true answer).

Thanks for posting that 2006 link with Ivey vs Beal; however, I didn't see the end result of how much Ivey won....it did say that Beal had won $10 million from the Pros before.....Did Ivey just win the $10 million back?
Also, who is ahead by how much for all the million dollar sessions they have had?

Isn't this a little like following a bout between George Foreman and Larry Holms? Both these guys are older than me. Can they really be playing at that high of a level poker? You can probably pick a random 22 yr old online HU grinder who would destroy either of them in a HU match.

he seems like an overall very smart guy, but my guess would be that he must be pretty bad if people (ie. Corporation) were willing to go so far out of their std bankroll management to play him. He might have improved since then, though.

If you read the book I think you may change your mind about that.

Beal lost $100k playing 5/10 at Wynn the night before. Apparently that is not impossible.

And pokertube had this article just 3 weeks ago, http://www.pokertube.com/poker-news/...3-million-game

Ballsy of Brunson to play him after LHE HU has been solved. I wonder who the corporation is this time around.

I shake my head and roll my eyes at these sorts of comments.

Clearly, no one thinks these two are the best at poker or in the top 100 (or 1000) of people who are the best. The point is that this billionaire who played the biggest game of poker the world has ever known and then disappeared from the scene, came back and played **** FIFTY THOUSAND (yearly salary of a regular joe) - ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND (regular salary of a richish joe).

If you don't think this is real juice interesting news then don't click the thread. No one cares how good they are and whether some 22 year old living in his parents basement is better than them (he is btw).

But seriously, in the book it's described how Beal thinks he can gain his edge by taking a very mathematical approach. The pros, he thinks, have become too reliant on their reads and feel, after winning on those for so long. In the book he made a pokerstove like program, running many calculations. I think he will have been studying with GTO software.

Since they're legally not allowed to "close" the table I'm curious if Hoss or one of the Germans would consider trying to round up a stake and take a shot 3-handed vs these two. Probably impossible to do on this short of notice tho.
