By Todd Brunson:

"About 12 years ago I was playing in a 150-300 hold'em game. Early in the morning Sam Grizzle walks in and starts commenting on how good the game is. When asked why he's not playing he pulls out his bankroll ($2) and sarcastically asks how much the buy in is.
He leaves and after talking to Puggy Pearson comes back with $10,000 and starts to play. Now after about an hour Sam an Puggy get into an arguement ( about what I can't remember offhand ) and Puggy picks up his $10,000 and half of what Sam was winning, leaving Sam with about $400, far short of the required buy in. Fortunatlly for Sam, no one says anything and in about four hours Sam is winning around $40,000.
If this isn't amazing enough, Sam quits the game announcing how he's going to do us a big favor and go play the tournament, allowing us to keep what money we had left.( He also told us how smart he was and dumb we were of course ) You can guess what happened next; Sam the genius wins the tournament and another $120,000 to go with the $40,000 he won off us earlier that morning. Not bad for a guy who showed up at the casino with $2 in his pocket.
It's now 6 am and he's been in the commerce for exactly 24 hours, time to get some sleep. That would be if he were a normal human but Sam's far from that. Sam comes up to the top section where there's a tough 800-1600 razz game in progress. Sam stumbles over and bellies up to the table losing his whole $160,000 in a fairly short period of time.
Instead of becoming upset Sam simply told every one how dumb they were, shook his head and walked out of the casino with the exact same $2 he showed up with the day before. Just another day in the life of a Gambler."

The next several months, Sam went on a tear, winning well over a million, possibly two, before his inevitable meltdown. Sam's meltdowns are worse than Loud Mouth's [Mike Matusow] blowups; they both are their own worst enemies. Sam went from playing in the biggest game in the world to hustling to get into satellites
LOL wow.

What a depressing story. People like that are hopelessly broken. Good thing that most of those people are so unlikeable that you don't feel sorry for them.

Grizzle is pure comedic genius. You cannot help but laugh when Grizzle is nearby. He talks nonstop s.hit in his southern drawl, constantly berating players, dealers, himself, his backers, his friends, the sportsbook, everybody. He's always involved in some hustle or argument or scheme or nonnense of some sort. His life would make a great reality poker lifestyle show. No script needed because you could not make this stuff up. Episode 1: Grizzle finds himself in a prop bet, arranged by Ted Forest, 100 yd race (Grizzle got a 40 yd head start) against Tuan Le outside the Commerce....and wins. I love this guy.

Sam was playing 15/30 last week. He bought in short for $300, and proceeded to play every hand like it was the nuts. Suffice to say he didn't last long.

I tried to get hi to sit in a 30/60 Razz game last year at the WSOP with his friend's son who was playing Razz for the first time, Sam said something like "I don't play kiddie stakes". Sam spent most of the series railing the cash games - ironic isn't it?

I Sam. Good guy down on his luck.

during 5star classic a month ago, my friend chris was playing the 10/20 NL and sitting at his table was sam grizzle, who was already stuck two or three $800 buyins

doyle wheels up in his chair/walker thingy, and says "Sam, where's my money"

"I don't have it"

"you never had any ****ing sense sam. you never had any ****ing sense, and you never ****ing will"

and doyle wheeled off. it was a total spectacle for two reasons, 1 being chris hearing doyle curse out loud, 2 being sam was on such tilt from the doyle rant that he would end up dumping a few thousand more by playing 100/5 preflop and doing things like calling $500 cold with 84o and folding the flop. gold.

WOW

Quote:
"Hewwo, Todd. Howr you do today?" mumbles a completely drunk Sam. Curtis informs me that Sam has been there drinking and gambling all night, losing the entire $20,000 he had.

"Not the whole thing!" Sam corrects Curtis, flashing about 10 $100 bills.

A lot of good that money did him, as he was all in within 10 minutes and went broke. A Hollywood writer couldn't have set this up any better. While he was all in, the three Middle Eastern guys showed up and sat down with about $100,000 each, but this time they were all as drunk as Sam was!

"OK, boys, howa much we gonna start with today?" a drunken Grizzle asks.

"Sorry, Sam, you're drunk," I reply.

"Yeah, but so are those guys."

"True, Sam, but I'm not staking them."

How does Sam get staked anyway? Is staking Sam a highly addictive casino game by itself? You know you're pissing your money away but you can't stop?
