I doubt many people think Russ Hamilton or Maurice Hawkins are among the greatest of all time. Unless you are talking about the hall of shame.

I couldn't find any thread in 2p2 talking about anything Maurice Hawkins has done other than allegedly behaving improperly while making a deal in a WSOP Deepstacks years ago. So if you want me to believe such things, I suggest you share stories or link posts right here.

So Maurice said the F word, called the clock, played Jeopardy music and he's terrible. Does he owe anyone money though? Is he telling people not to play with other people because he thinks people cheat with no evidence? Was he affiliated with a site that cheated and stole money from people? You all sound like a bunch of haters. Not surprising though.

You all love Phil Hellmuth though.

Bunch of haters in the thread.

Congrats Maurice! 10 rings, one with a field of 1,000 people! You are the GOAT, expect people to not give you your due. You have the title of THEE BEST POKER PLAYER right now. Hope you have an amazing WSOP!

My initial impression of Maurice was poor. But then I ran into him at Cherokee and he played a mild practical joke on me. I thought it was funny, and I ended up talking to him for half an hour or so eating dinner at the bar there. I quite like him, and I don't think his television personality gets him right.

The waiter delivered my appetizer. Maurice pretended it was his, and got as far as sticking his unused fork into it and making like he was going to eat it. It was really quite funny.

This is the only Maurice angle shooting story I saw myself. I've been told many others.

He was heads up on the river. His opponent bet and pushed his cards forward. Opponent turns over 7 high bluff, Maurice pulls his cards back, turns over King high and yells I call. Dealer laughs at him, turns his cards back over and pushed pot to 7 high.

Maurice argues pot is his, tells dealer to reconstruct pot from chips being stacked and for floor to be called. Tells floor his cards never moved. Floor asks table, is told cards went forward and awards pot to 7 high.

That's not really an angle though. His cards weren't mucked yet. In a lot of rooms Maurice wins that hand. It's generally not smart to show your bluff before an opponent's cards are mucked.

I can't decide to believe what I don't know and I'm not suggesting your lying, I'd just like to know what the angles were so I can keep them in mind whenever I'm at the table

consider it a PSA to 2+2 by filling us in on what the angles were, inquiring mind(s) would like to know, so please give us some details amigo

So what you're saying is that he's a professional poker player. Thanks for the newsflash.

I know you are a nvg troll but w/e.

Opponent bets. Maurice pushes cards forward. Opponent shows bluff then Maurice regrabs cards and tries to claim pot and he didn't fold.

i imagine when he pushed his cards forward he released them from his hand. It's also very likely he was in a seat furtherest from the dealer

I assume you think he did some kind of pump fake and kept his hands on his cards the whole time?

He released his hand because he thought he was behind. Then the opponent showed his hand at a point when Maurice thought his cards were still live (many poker rooms would consider his hand live until it hits the muck).

Logically, Maurice grabbed his cards before they hit the muck and called the bet since he had the best hand. Not an angle at all. If he has the best hand in this spot the correct decision is to call. He didn't release his hand with the intention of picking them back up. He simply didn't realize his opponent would show him an inferior hand while his hand was still (potentially) live.

Now, apparently where this took place his hand was not live, although it's certainly possible that this was an incorrect ruling and Maurice was the one that got screwed over in this instance.

There are only 79 people who have won three or more WSOPC rings total. Of that group, even people who have won two Circuit Main Events in different years are rare finds. So consider these honorable mentions:

DANIEL LOWERY
2011-12 (4th at Harrah's New Orleans, 2nd at Choctaw Durant, 2nd at Harvey's Lake Tahoe)

CHRIS FERGUSON
Three different WSOPC ME wins (2007-08 Lake Tahoe, 2005-06 Harrah's Las Vegas, 2004-05 Harrah's Rincon)

JONATHAN TAYLOR
2012-13 (1st at Lodge Casino, 2nd at Horseshoe Southern Indiana)

Of the players who have won two total rings, 65 have at least $300K in total earnings. None of those 65 have come close to the feat you describe. And since anyone who has two WSOPC Main Event would likely also have broken that winnings threshold, and since I've already wasted about 20 minutes of my life looking up the results of 144 poker players*, I'll stop there and say with some confidence that it hasn't happened.

Spoiler:
*No. 46 of which was the OP
