Hawkins record of success seems to be quite a statistical outlier. I based this on his lifetime and yearly finishes that are shown on various sites (WSOP etc) on the web. I couldn't find a report on the number of tourneys he has entered, but based on a reasonable estimates of it, it is less than 1 out of 100 that an average skill player could win rings this often. Congrats.

Usually accusations like this are supplemented with some form of proof. Since you have provided none, I would like to see your all time tourney wins. I think that would make everyone understand your comments in the thread.

And this beauty! Makes me realize why all eyes are always going to be on Maurice at the table looking for something bad he is going to do. Then that bad thing gets amplified x10.

Just read that newspaper article and the post from the guy Maurice stiffed. I get that there will always be scams in the gambling world but Maurice seems to take it to a whole different level. This guy is a grade A class 1 scumbag. And he won over what, $300,000 this summer and still won't pay this guy back? Just smh, him and Chino Rheem are disgraceful but they get all this positive coverage from the wsop blogs and tv. You have to wonder.

No. What he was saying is that Maurice Hawkins often likes to treat younger, soft-spoken white players in a racist and degrading manner; trying to intimidate them. As a regional live tourney grinder, I can also attest to seeing this sort of behavior from him on multiple occasions.

some specific examples ive seen myself:
he frequently likes to pick on and ostracize this type from the rest of the table by talking **** about them; right in front of their face to the other players at the table. Yes, he will use race in an abusive way. The only way I can describe it & avoid being called a racist by the PC police is to show this clip from the famous movie Menace II Society:


No joke or exaggeration lol...I've seen him act & treat players almost exactly like that on several occasions...always to younger, "nerdy" white guys. I've also seen Maurice Hawkins make some pretty racist and disparaging comments about these same sort of players. Usually its something a long the lines of "Mommy and Daddy buys them into their tourneys".

Not to mention he gets away with a lot of bull**** and antics at WSOP run tables because he seems to know a bunch of the dealers and floor pretty well. Def not a nice guy.

Here's a fun little angle I just saw Maurice employ at a 360 tourney in Fort Lauderdale.

Starting stacks around 20k, Maurice opens the button to 300. Small blind (older guy) pops it up to 1000. Big blind (middle aged frumpy dude) flats the 1000. Maurice takes notice and calls. Flop comes J96 rainbow. SB bets 1500. Big blind hems and haws, clearly interested but not sure, when Maurice suddenly puts in 5200.

Dealer (and SB) speak up, and Maurice coyly says "Oh man, I didn't see, you called the 1000 right?" BB folds, SB ships, Maurice folds.

Did Maurice get penalized for acting out of turn?

Love people or Hate em on the poker table i try to find the good in all people..Had my first Maurice Hawkins experience this weekend and I must say with a clear head and no hidden agenda that Maurice is the biggest douchebag player I have ever met on a table..Yes he has impressive tourney results and I give him credit for that but he is just a horrible and rotten human being..Within a 2 hour span at the Wynn Classic he got into it with every single person at the table at one time or another ..He told a 75 year old man to shut the hell up and he got into it with a big bald dude who looked like he could break him in half. Of course nothing will happen at the table but when is somebody gonna knock this guys teeth out..All he talked about was how he didn't need the money and the tourney was just recreation for him as he is set already financially..In my experience the only people who brag about how they "dont need poker" because of their income are the ones who are stone broke..Every single hand he lost he berated the other player..When he won he gloated and rubbed it in..Then when he goated someone long enough and they responded he cried like a little baby saying they started it and he did nothing wrong..With this dudes results he should be an ambassador for poker but instead he is a complete tool, a pathological liar and In a dream world if he thinks he should be respected and recognized like the other top players. Shame on you Mr. Hawkins. You are a rotten person with ZERO class.

Obviously you played a different event than I did since I he was at my table for a good chunk of the day on Friday. Not sure if he just late reg'ed or had to fire a second bullet, but I guess he showed up somewhere around the first break (wasn't paying THAT much attention but recall he took a seat vacated by a woman who busted early). He was at the other end of the table from me, so I didn't have a lot of direct conversation with him or anyone else in the 1-4 seats compared to what I had at my end of the table.

Not thrilled that he knocked me out on what was basically the bubble hand, but I don't recall him getting out of line with anyone.

Just goes to show that different players can hold a differing opinion of the same player...or that one day can be different than the next.
