1. I'm mostly retired from table games! I'm a lifetime loser in all, including sadly, building dragons. However I attribute this in part to being sloppy and playing two many double zero wheels.
2. Not staking anyone at the moment but open to doing coaching! Really just PLO though

Thanks for the mixed course shoutout! Always nice to get positive feedback, especially since it was the only material I ever put out (or ever will).
I find with a lot of activities, a little alcohol actually helps. Inflection points vary by activity - I'd say it would be quite low with chess! I used to be fond of rum n'cokes, but now that's about the last drink I'd order.

And no prob - your course is fantastic. Though I will say I have to watch it on at least 1.5x speed

Question is what did you think of the main field this year (and other wsop events if you played them)? I haven't played in a few years but everyone I know who played said their day 1 tables were pretty garbage with mostly pros and maybe 1 meh fish, but the final table looked so soft for a 10k. Is it just live mtts are good at getting lucky but bad players deep, do you think the final table was tougher than it looked on tv, or was the field overall super soft for a 10k live mtt?
I'm terrible with faces so it's possible I wouldn't recognize you but I definitely remember we had dinner and that you're Barewire's friend. I think that was actually the year I made my other run - I had 12k from 30k at that dinner going into day 2, and somehow spun it to 252k by the end of day 2.

The main event is by and large extremely soft. It's also completely catered to my skill set, so my edge in the field will be larger than a lot of pros who would have bigger edges than me in almost any other tournament. If you have experience playing live cash against amateurs, you'll do well in the main, and I'd take you over equivalently or even a lot of more skilled online MTT players. The best players in the main have experience in both. The tournament is basically a true hybrid between a live cash game and a tournament. And as for the player pool, the main is largely about exploiting amateur players and drifting away from solver-approved plays at pretty high frequencies.

Having said that, I don't have any delusions that I didn't get incredibly lucky to be in a position to be writing this thread. I won a 20% and a 10% all in on day 7

As for the final table, I'd say it was probably a hair tougher than the average FT over the past 10 years or so. I won't get too much into specifics on all the players, but I'd say that it's possible everyone at the FT was +EV in the field, and I'm very confident that at least 7 of the 9 were. I really enjoyed all the guys at the FT, and it was a fun mix of play styles and personalities. We had great chemistry overall as a group I'd say, and I can't recall any real bad blood between the guys.

1. I rarely play these days but I'm around 1800 blitz on chess.com. I peaked at 1930 CFC in my playing days. I've gotten a little more into chess lately and have been swapping PLO coaching for chess lessons with a grandmaster

2. Hey! Thanks for the coins. Nice uptick already. I bought 6 coins for now

Do you fly First Class now that you got millions?

Thanks for giving us an estimate of what you would hourly at 5-10 NLH. How about if you played 2-5 or 1-3 at the Wynn or Aria?

Might consider it if I got a deal or on a long flight, but doubt I'll be flying much first class. 2-5 Wynn I think I could actually have a higher hourly off the getgo than I would at 5-10 given my rustiness and experience. But it wouldn't grow much from the start. Maybe $45-65? I'm really guessing here, haven't played much of that game in years. No idea about 1-3 and would depend on rake structure

it was great to meet you a few days after the main.

Congratulations on your main event run! From what I’ve read, it seems like it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.

1. Have you, or have you ever heard of a player trying to develop telepathic or other psychic abilities to use at the table?

2. What is your opinion of paranormal phenomena, generally and/or regarding a specific topic?

Thought I was out of people to cheer for in the main then found out you were rumnchess and put a little Pokershares sweat on. Confident I got it in good and it made the FT fun to watch. I remember watching you and oasis00 grind the HUSNGs on FTP when I was hanging out with him back when he was a HUSNG pro as well

I think you played well on the FT and hope to see you at Aussie Millions (not on my left of course), congrats on the score and well deserved

Congrats on a nice cash.

Watch collector here, too. One thing you need to get yourself is the Orbita Four Aces Winder! It would be very apropos. Girard-Perregaux is my favorite watches and have a Jaeger-LaCoultre Reverso, Hublot Classic. Good to find another collector, could always invest in a tourbillion

The QQ hand we had tons of discussions on in our group, AllJackedUp can send you the invite if you are interested in joining.

Here is my question for you...

How did you build a bankroll? Did you start from nothing or did you have some disposable income to throw at poker or did you start from the ground up? Did you bink a big one early on and go from there? Did you struggle for some years to get up to speed?

Thanks homie!

Nice to meet you too! I live predominantly in Vegas but spend the nice months of the year in Halifax. I don't know Russ personally but we have some mutual friends. I'm not sure if he's still heavily involved in the poker scene or not? If he is it's probably online so we don't overlap much

Thanks man. We gave Maahs a couple light needles, especially after we learned he tank folded J6 to raise and 3bet; at the same time, he's not a professional poker player, I can imagine how intimidating that whole environment must've been for him, and I don't think his intentions were malicious. No deals were proposed while I was there

As for PLO, I have a good friend who is constantly running sims with monksolver. Our skillsets are complementary so we talk a lot of poker and I'll give him spots and projects to run. Outside of that, just tons of HH sharing with strong players, and I'll watch Galfond videos as well. I've done some work with oddsoracle and pokerjuice too.

And TY for private game info. I haven't ventured into that scene much at all but if I do, I'll keep you in mind as a resource. Plan on playing a lot at commerce during LAPC and otherwise still mostly using Vegas as a hub

1. Play tight pre...it's ok/good to get looser as you get more comfortable, but starting from a tight base will ensure you don't face lots of uncomfortable spots on later streets
2. 3bet worse regs wide in position when stacks are deep with hands that don't play great multiway - liven up those features!
3. Be cognizant of sizing options - bet small on dry or lockdown boards, and bet pot on dynamic boards with lots of draws
4. Game select
5. Don't tilt. A lot of the big reason players struggle to move up in stakes is not due to poor mechanics, but due to playing badly when stuck, upset, tired, etc. Mental game is huge at these stakes

Depends on what's running...the bigger games run less frequently. It's rare but not impossible that I'll pass on a bigger game to play a smaller game

Thanks man. Wow tough questions!

I don't have a super strong opinion one way or another on these topics perhaps. Or better said, I'm unsure. I think that one of my biggest strengths in poker is being able to pick up on people's energies and states of minds, and find all the necessary adjustments to those energies, but I also wouldn't necessarily call that psychic or telepathic.

I'll say that I think psychology is a criminally underrated part of live poker, especially by people transitioning to the game from online
