Oh, so this is all politics because DN is PokerStars, and Doug Polk is naturally awesome outside of PokerStars, and I'm just slow to pick-up on that. It's obvious DN's comment at face value is just stupid.

Alec's Twitter feed gives the impression that he spent his month off reading self-help books and listening to motivational speakers. Maybe he's going for that Annie Duke career path.

I was watching some older Poker Night in America and Torelli joined the game after he had been doing commentary for the live stream for hours, so he had been seeing everyone's cards. I don't know if the other players were aware or not, Hansen and Stapes mentioned it on the episode commentary.

That's not unusual. I've seen several commentators hop into PNIA games after a seat opens, and telling the other players that they had been watching.

I guess it's not a massive advantage because everyone has access to the same information. These are all streamed live, and the commentators are usually watching on the same delay as viewers at home.

I'm pretty sure Gabe Kaplan sat in on the High Stakes Poker game for 30min or so after watching the other players play and he came in and owned them.

What makes you think HSP had live commentary?

IIRC Gabe was in the booth, said something like "I'm gonna go play", then played, then came back in the booth and continued commentating.

Ah ok, he said it on a TV show so it must be true. My bad.

Their ruse to make you think they were commentating live worked for you then...

I am very certain the purpose of going north from Alex's point of view in this hand was because he was losing and didn't want people to think he was stuck as much as he was because for some reason he'll be embarrassed at losing at 25k in a 25/50/100 poker game!

I also believe that once the hand has been run out it would be entirely wrong for Alex to refund him $10k. If he had lost the hand he obviously never gets the 10k back so its a massive freeroll. Wolf's the victim here of course but he's made a $25,000 bet without checking a guys stack which is a pretty big mistake.

AT should have just said "It's on you, the $10k is in play or it isn't - whatever you say i'll go with" Yeh Wolf gets a advantage here which is fine as AT has made bigger of the mistakes.

TBH I find both parties behaviour in the follow up pretty embarrassing, AT looks like he's never been around people before and the video he made is ****ing stupid. Wolf making t-shirts etc when he's partially at fault is pretty lol. Actually tbf that was pretty funny.

I dont know how to make it to a clip to post here, but if you have Pokergo, watch the "perks of the trade episode" from tuesday 17/10 night.

18 minutes, Haralobos has moved his red chips to a position where they are totally out of sight from 4/5 of the other players.

Rast is cold facing a 3bet and this is what happens;

Rast - "Bob you have red chips?"

Haralobob - "I have $300k" moves his chips back into site.

Aside from the fact that this was early in the game and BR had just joined the game (so less reason for him to make assumptions about the size of HV stack) it's close to an identical situation....

I'm a big HBob fan, so I assume there was absolutely no malicious intent, but I can understand that it looked bad. Especially based on how much sh*t Torelli took.

If Rast would've shipped there without asking, which he's never doing, it may have got weird. Though, HBob seems like one of the least scummy people out there and I'm sure they would've figured something out. Could've affected sizing I suppose if he didn't ask about his big chips, and played assuming his stack was $75,000 less

But, these are the screens. Sure someone can get video
Pic 1 is Bob's stack immediately before the hand is dealt
Pic 2 as HBob 3 bets
Pic 3 HBob moving the $25K chips to the front after Rast asks about stack size
Pic 4 The 3, maybe 4 $25K chips now shown

Also, not an excuse, but I assume that the other 3 players to his right all knew he had around $300,000 based on his buy-in and only being 20 minutes into the show. They'd have seen his stack swings, but Rast wouldn't have known.

Just... everyone put their big chips out or on top

Chances of this being an angle from Haralabob are like 0.0000001%, probably just straight 0% actually.

Torelli might have done it deliberately, and Haralabob might have done it accidentally, but explain how at the point of the decision being on Rast its any different?

Bottom line is;
Obviously - you should keep big chips to the front all the time
Obviously - situations crop up where players chips are hidden
OBVIOUSLY - YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER MAKE A BIG BET WITHOUT BEING 100% SURE WHAT THE STACKS ARE

People saying that it slows the game down are just wrong, notice how Rast asks and its maybe 4 or 5 seconds delay.
