Man you people are all so naive and clueless looking for reasons why it isn't an angle or only a partial one.

IT is a mistake you made just gotta learn and move on, you'll likely never do this again, we've all been there.
(I highly doubt you've ever had someone hiding big chips against you)

All that being said, the facts you make about him adding chips when you're supposed to inform the production, coupled with the fact he'd been losing I can see how you made the mistake

It seems to me he was losing big in the game, snuck chips onto the table so people wouldn't think he was losing, not defending him from the accusastions but it does feel like this was an ego driven decision not an attempt to cheat. What a clown though, playing HS for years has he never lost 400-500 big blinds in a live game before, pretty sure Ivey has gotten buried a few times in his career and he's widely considered to be quite the cardsman.

What is HORRENDOUS though, is when he approaches you to "sort this out" - you assume he's going to offer you some of the money back (although stupid to do this before the hand as you could have won the pot) the equity share of the extra money seems very fair offer from you actually, he offers you the chance to BUY A PIECE of him in an upcoming cash game...

Jesus christ what a huge bellend.
your opinions on this are just plain wrong. clearly you dont understand the situation.

this situation is no different than him pulling extra money out of his pocket to play with and putting them on the table in real time.

the fact the max buyin was 20'000 and he had 25 on table without any significant winning hand/stuck a lot makes it even scummier, even straight up cheating probably.

This is a pretty simple situation. Alec can't offer to have the 10k just not play during the hand because Wolf's response will betray the strength of his hand, ignoring any psychological bull**** where he can try to level Alec by saying he doesn't want the 10k to play even though he holds a strong hand. Therefore, the 10k must play. If Alec decides to call, before his opponent's holding is known or the board is run, Alec should offer his opponent some form of compensation in the event that he wins the hand.

At most, Alec should offer to give back the entire 10k and allow himself to be freerolled for his mistake.

At the least, Alec should offer to give back Wolf his aipf equity out of the additional 10k and allow himself to be freerolled for his mistake.

There is no situation in which Alec should not get freerolled for some portion of 10k here if he calls and wins.

Essentially the AQ guy put chips that weren't in play onto the table with some sleight of hand. The fact that they were on the table during the hand is irrelevant because that information wasn't available to any of the other players. That is clearly against the rules of a table stakes game.

Alec Torelli believed he was just abiding by the ruling of the floorman, but that person didn't have all of the information available to us now. What he must do is clear: if Wolf knew he had the chips, he would have most likely folded. If Wolf won the hand, he would have been entitled to the whole pot; so Torelli should give him the amount of money that he put in after the 3 bet minus his EV in the pot.

I'm not understanding this comment. Some players could see the chips.

Unfortunately the camera cuts away before we see him pull it out, but the next time we can see his chips he has two silvers. The second one goes right on top of the first one, notably still covered up by his other stacks even though he's clearly now interacted with them and could have moved them out front. Also worth noting, even though players are supposed to notify the PNIA production crew when they're adding on (so the chip graphs can be updated accurately,) Alec doesn't tell anyone. Neither the crew or the players at the table. For the rest of the time from now until the hand in question the count of his stack on the graphics is $5k off.

04:25:41 - The next view of Torelli's chips, an ariel view, showing the two silver chips. Although is it admittedly a little hard to say conclusively that there are two there.

04:29:35 - The next clear view of Torelli's chips, clearly showing the second silver on top of the first, both tucked completely behind his oranges and greens"

In lawyering terms:

"Q: Did you see the defendant bite off the victim's nose?

A: No

Q: Then how do you know he bit off the victim's nose?

A: I saw him spit it out. "
Haha nice.

And not for nothing, huge props to that YouTube user for going through the video with such scrutiny. I'm half-skimming this thread so perhaps I missed it -- is he/she a 2p2er? Either way, well done.

And if you want to watch Alec's video without giving him the views, watch Doug Polk's vid instead. He breaks it down pretty well, and rather humorously.

(Yeah, it was posted above but might as well save people the search.)

Wolf said that it "seems as though not a single person on set knew of those chips", though he had just mentioned the on-screen graphics so maybe he meant the production staff. Regardless, the information was not available to all players, and a player shouldn't have to look out for another player going north while tracking stacks. The spirit of the comment is pretty understandable.

Actually there would have only been two players that could have seen the hidden chips- Torelli, and the player sitting to Torelli's right.

At 10.50 in Polk's excellent video Torelli says he had just won the chips, so he was saying he must have either won a $5K chip in one hand, or two $5k chips in one hand.

Surprisingly, he forgot to mention that he had surreptitiously added them into the game. Fortunately, with the benefit of the film evidence, Torelli can now have his memory refreshed, and remember this thing he had just so happened to have forgotten to mention.

I would love to hear Polk's updated views on Torelli for smuggling chips into a game. I liked his balanced views on the original case, intrigued to know how he sees the updated situation.
