More fun on PNIA's new episode yesterday, which I have to presume was filmed after the whole hubub since in one big hand another player made it a point to ask Alec how much he was playing basically three times, even going so far as to make him specify whether that was what he started the hand with, or what he had left in front of him. It seemed like the announcers wanted to harp on it, but they basically stayed mum.

[/B]But listen closer! Does this melody sound familiar to you? It won't if you merely dabble in chess or quantum mechanics. But if you're among the 99.99 percentile of intelligence quotient of Rick and Morty fans, it just might:

That's right. A 19th century masterpiece by Frédéric Chopin. Nocturne in F minor, Op. 55, No. 1 to be precise. Of course, I would never expect you plebeians to have caught that little detail....
Wait, you mean Frederic F***ing Chopin ?

but, what do I know? Sounds like Old Dog Trey to me.

Srs getting Sirius with the verbiage all of the sudden?

Always down for the prose and pros, and the prodigious 19th century musicians. Love that piano. Rick and Morty became over saturated very quick, but it's pretty suite, if you know what I mean.

The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these compositions, to realize that they're not just good music- they say something deep about LIFE. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Glass's genius unfolds itself on their Spotify playlists. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Glassworks tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. I agree with almost everything you said, until the bolded part. I absolutely love being around people that are smarter than I. Patty the flute player was more than a little wacky, but when the members of the band were arguing the details of the spread of the Moslem Empire (I was a listener at that table with a doctorate and two players that were working on one) I was stunned at the way she walked by, stopped and listened for about a minute, gave us chapter and verse of the correct timeline, then walked away It was like a mic drop except that the term had not yet been coined. It was very entertaining and I learned something that I didn't know--always a good thing, in poker and in life.

For the record Rick and Morty is hilarious. I am a genius and my name is Rick so I get it on a whole other level.

I was just randomly watching another episode of PNIA that Torelli was playing in and he was hiding his big chips behind smaller chips. I will try to find the exact episode and get the screen shot. I haven't read the entire thread, but how many other times on PNIA has he been seen hiding his chips? I do believe he is an angle-shooting scum-bag

He is starting a Crypto Youtube Channel, and I asked him what his qualifications are for it, and got no response.

The Nobel Laureate physicist Richard Feynman took a few months to learn enough Spanish for a series of lectures he was to deliver in Brazil.

lol.

The actual cross-cultural story is funnier.

http://southerncrossreview.org/81/feynman-brazil.html

"So when it was time to register for the class, we were standing outside, ready to go into the classroom, when this pneumatic blonde came along. You know how once in a while you get this feeling, WOW? She looked terrific. I said to myself, "Maybe she's going to be in the Spanish class - that'll be great!" But no, she walked into the Portuguese class. So I figured, What the hell - I might as well learn Portuguese.

I started walking right after her when this Anglo-Saxon attitude that I have said, "No, that's not a good reason to decide which language to speak." So I went back and signed up for the Spanish class, to my utter regret. ..."

"When I got to Rio I met Cesar Lattes. The national TV network wanted to make some pictures of our meeting, so they started filming, but without any sound. The cameramen said, "Act as if you're talking. Say something - anything."

So Lattes asked me, "Have you found a sleeping dictionary yet?"

That night, Brazilian TV audiences saw the director of the Center for Physical Research welcome the Visiting Professor from t he United States, but little did they know that the subject of their conversation was finding a girl to spend the night with!

When I got to the center, we had to decide when I would give my lectures - in the morning, or afternoon.

Lattes said, "The students prefer the afternoon."

"So let's have them in the afternoon."

"But the beach is nice in the afternoon, so why don't you give the lectures in the morning, so you can enjoy the beach in the afternoon."

"But you said the students prefer to have them in the afternoon."

"Don't worry about that. Do what's most convenient for you! Enjoy the beach in the afternoon."

So I learned how to look at life in a way that's different from the way it is where I come from. First, they weren't in the same hurry that I was. And second, if it's better for you, never mind! So I gave the lectures in the morning and enjoyed the beach in the afternoon. And had I learned that lesson earlier, I would have learned Portuguese in the first place, instead of Spanish. "
