The pot was only $5k. The size of the shove made it pretty obvious that he misread stacks. There was no hiding it after he shoved. Overshoving by $20k with the pot the size it was, it was instantly obvious that he misread stacks, tell or no tell.

the angle was unintentional, and given how casinos might rule this it's understandable why alec gave it a "nothing i can do now" approach.

but just letting him off for 10k isn't good enough. if alec offers, wolf then has to consider call odds for answering yes or no. the good-sport line is for alec to say, "i am calling no matter what, would you like to take 10k back?"

They were so blatantly hidden from everyone to his left.

This +million.

Alec might be blinded by his "make $10 million" ideology that he is throwing out sportsmanship, etc.

Alec already has money and is probably pursuing fame.
Nobody will give a **** if you make $10 million more if you do it without sportsmanship.

yeah, but to say it was on purpose is to say he was looking to be blacklisted from televised games.

Clear Angle by Alec. He was hiding those chips like he spent years playing at Commerce. Well in fact he was a Commerce player.

It looks really bad but the evidence is too circumstantial to acccuse him of doing it on purpose.

whats more surprising than all of this is that he actually opened up with a straddle

This is one person who should DEFINITELY NOT be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to angling.

Couldn't they have asked the floor to rule on it?

AT says, "He misread my stack." in recap after the hand. The two silver chips were definitely not visible to all the players at the table. Intentional or not, it looks bad when he puts the chips in his hand and then puts them in view.

ha nah commerce players wouldn't even consider that hiding. they weren't buried under a bunch of small chips behind a giant drink.

No, Alec shouldn't say "I'm calling no matter what." It will allow the other guy to play perfectly against him. The other guy will of course want to keep the 10k out if he has a strong hand, and take it back if he doesn't. Even though IMO Alec has a responsibility to make his large denomination chips visible to everyone, the other guy shares some responsibility too.

It would've been the decent thing to do for Alec to ask the guy what he wanted to do, and if the guy said take 10k back, let him. Then Alec can shove/flat/or do whatever he feels is optimal.

If Alec is being honest he should stop action, present his extra 10K and offer the guy to re-decide his shove. Instead he asked him if he saw his extra 10K which gets important info for Alec. The guy probably answered honestly hoping Alec wouldn't hold him to the shove.

Poker room's fault. This type of angle shouldn't even exist if poker room clearly states the rule that big chips have to be in front of or on top of your stack and if they weren't then they aren't in play.

Is there a single casino anywhere that this isn't the rule? You want it written on a banner over hanging the table?

I loved the ending note from Alec on his video of the hand, "Keep alert, don't mis stack-sizes, cause it could cost you"

LOL
Stay alert and make sure you're able to see around all chip barriers protecting huge denomination chips...

What you couldn't possibly see around, and in between my chip barrier? Tough Titties, kid

It's pretty amazing that Torelli pulls off that angle AND plays the situation to his advantage to gain more information from his opponent. I can't see how anybody can credibly argue in his defense...especially given that video he made.

True, but Torelli still could have spoken up more than he did. He said just enough to keep the situation +ev for himself.
