He's inarticulate, but I give him credit for being concise and intense. Nevertheless, this doesn't paint the picture of someone who made his money, or has much.

There are times Alan Keating sounds like he took the short bus to school, possibly wearing a helmut.

Keating was a typical grinder before he fell in with Bilzerian.

It is weird everyone has forgotten or doesn’t know Keating has been considered one of the best and most winningest live nl cash players year after year since like 07/08, mostly due to rumors posted on this site. Yet, he’s been able to convince newer posters on the same site that he is a dumb rich kid, which is impressive.

Keating thing is bizarre. I’ve never watched HCL other than a few highlight clips. Can’t imagine waking up and thinking to myself “ohh I can’t wait to watch Alan Keating on HCL today”. So I don’t understand the pull that he thinks he has and asking for piece of company is weird.
His frozen smirk reminds me of the homicidal maniacs in the horror flick Smile. Yeah, not the main attraction.

Just heard that he approached Krispy Kreme for a new desert made from fried dough. You can make them with and without frosting.

Krispy Kreme has reportedly declined to compensate him with an equity stake.

That actually largely what I'm talking about in a general sense. Play fast be social etc. Do flips bomb pots etc if they want.

I didn't say poker fish should be paid- I said they should be catered to. Games revolve around them period.

In the specific case of Keating - I'm not even saying he should get a piece of HCL. But when you're buying in for hundreds of thousands of dollars, vpiping 90 percent, bringing in other whales etc then yes it's pretty reasonable that he gets to call shots most other players don't get to call.

Ryan has every right to say no and Keating has every right to take his ball and go elsewhere.
I don’t why people think it’s fun to Watch someone VPIP 90% in high stakes, it’s a mockery of poker to promote playing that bad, it’s one thing to give good action but it ruins game if it’s played at such a low level.

Geez, this is a short-sighted take, we only want perfect poker broadcast to the masses and no one having fun or gambling, everyone needs to play better to respect the game of poker lolol how can people like that exist. Go watch high rollers on poker go or something.

If he played perfect you’d probably be one of the first to scream nit or “he’s just sniping!” Keating is one of the best live cash players to ever live, even better than Garrett. If he just played perfect all the time it would be boring and bad for poker at the same time.

Also, I’m pretty sure every time he plays on stream he’s either drinking or high on thc or psilocybin, so give him some credit. He was definitely turbo high on that twitter spaces.

lol playing perfect poker is different then playing 90% of hands and dunking off a lot of money on 93o, cash games are loose anyway but Keating does it on such a ridiculous level that he ruins game, nobody really knows how he can play in these games losing all this money playing so bad, if you are a fan then that’s fine but I think it’s better if you play a little more under control.

Alan made the influencer game with Mr Beast way more entertaining than Tom Dwan, who didn't really play any hands or talk to anyone, looking like he was gonna fall asleep most of the stream.

we get it! you are jealous of his wealth.

i was going to respond to your first post ITT but it was so utterly ridiculous that i didn't even bother. like someone else said, go watch the super high rollers where everyone plays like robots and daniel. i can't imagine being a fan of poker and not enjoying watching whales splash around. very, very strange indeed.

Same way I can be a fan of the nba and not want to watch clumsy people fumble the ball all over the court. I get whales are great for the game and you want at least one at your table but as a viewer it gets a little boring when everyone at the table is vpiping over 50%. At that point it's just monkeys flinging 💩 back and forth.

Ummmm, the more people see these guys Vpip high on streams, the more they think that's proper play.

That's much better then people playing optimally.

Also, serious Poker Players are by far still the minority. The majority of people are recs who enjoy seeing a different kind of poker than you and I.

To the vast majority of players, seeing someone vpip 17% and make 1/3 pot bets is a mockery of gambling in general.

I'm not serious, or good, which is why I'm on NVG. If I were good I'd be playing poker, winning millions, and driving a Ferrari. Welcome to reality. You suck like the rest of us. Better yet, go on stream and crush. Easy money, right? Not a big enough bankroll = zero poker skills like me.

Not close to the same thing. Watching elite players play basketball at the highest level is extremely entertaining.

Watching a table of modern poker players play at an elite level is absolute torture.
This is actually a problem for a lot of good pros bc nobody bad wants to play with them.

The wild card factor with someone like Keating is awesome.

And the money factor matters as well. If you bet 25 dollars on a hand of bj nobody in the casino will care. Bet 500k instead in the middle of the casino floor and everyone walking by is gonna stop to see what happens.

I’m not suggesting I want to watch the way the high roller douches play and take forever but playing the way Keating does sets horrible example of how to play, you don’t have to wait for premium hands in this type of cash game but playing everything seems like horrible example for people new to poker simce anyone would go broke playing that way.

his claim is "that it's making a mockery of the game". yeah, i don't know what he's talking either. possibly a troll?

edit: just read his post in the "Phil Galfond – just a poker wizard or wise beyond his years?"-thread. he has to be a deliberate troll.

Poker community is like a kindergarten.

If I was a recreational player, I would never play in these games. It is all fake...jokes, smiles, line-ups...just to get you money. Higher stakes you play, worse it is.

In the end in public games it is at least more straight forward.

Keating is a little unreasonable here, I think Ryan and Nick will soon regret banning Garrett. He demanded much less.

Also lets say he gets a share of HCL, will he still play like he did? 90%? I'm sure not. Unless they put it in the contract

I lost some respect for Keating. He can ask for it if he thinks like that, but he should do private. And if Nick and Ryan think it is ev+ longterm, they can accept or decline. That's it, end of story.

Maybe he’s a gigilo?

he rented a room from my friend in Vegas back in the day maybe 12years ago now. so no trust fund.
i went to his birthday party back in the day when he rented out the top floor of top golf.
he became best friends with Dan Bilzerian and was hanging out traveling everywhere, im sure you could find some photos of him with blitz back in the day.
theres a video of Dan playing on bill perkins acr account and Alan is in the backround.

how he ran it up to 100+ mill is anyones guess though

I could understand from the point that when there is such a big spot in the game it doesn’t make a lot of sense for other players to get out of line vs him or even each other all that much. So people do tend to start nut peddling more and it becomes an Alan Keating show (which imo is entertaining)
