If this is true and Reid is able to slip RAWA into a must pass bill as Frist slipped UIGEA into the Safe Ports bill, it could be game over.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/1...n_6277000.html

Please write Senator Reid, especially if you live in Nevada, and tell him you oppose RAWA.

LOL if you guys think some shady backdoor favor is gonna be the final period in the long lasting struggle for online poker in US.

The future of gaming is inevitably going online, and Sheldon is merely a old school conservative trying to push back the evolution. No single old fart is going to kill a potential billion dollar industry for good.

It will be a BIG stake in the heart and thinking we don't need to do anything because our side winning is inevitable is a good recipe for our side losing.

Of course not. I just don't see any reason to be like "oh well, game over" Thats gotta be like 10 times more contra-productive than being faithful that Sheldons efforts will eventually be futile when considering the digitalization of everything from grocery-shopping to socializing.

Not sure why you guys think this is game over. You're a bunch of pu$$ys. It's Sheldon Adelson vs. everyone else. Do you really think he's going to end up winning this battle? Yea it looks bad, but come on.

The UIGEA was passed in 2006. 8 years ago and it still hasn't been overturned. As a matter of fact, things have only gotten worse.

Online poker absolutely does not need any more hurdles than it already has. One hurdle could easily equal 10-20 years before we make more progress. Like I said, the UIGEA has already shown itself to be an 8 year hurdle.

I'm Canadian and after the UIGEA passed, that bill from another freakin' country affected my ability to deposit online via credit card. I'm sorry, but I don't want more hurdles.

I didn't say it would be, but the last person I quoted has a good point.

I was listening to the TED radio hour and it was on money. Basically, the more money someone has can make them less sympathetic. Maybe that explains Adelson.

Not all capitalists are evil sociopaths but they do seem to succeed more in capitalist systems unfortunately. Anyway **** Adelson, the sooner the world is rid of him the better.

just a thought but is there any chance having no federal online poker bill will lead to another company taking a massive chance like ps/ftp post UIGEA and deciding screw it, no ones getting into the US legally anyways and just eating the processing fees and other crap they would have to put up with? on a large scale not just like bovada or winning

If there was a chance of that, I'd think it would have already have happened.

Hi Doc:

Unfortunately, I agree with you. But I sure hope this report is wrong.

Best wishes,

If it comes to money, everybody else loses. Sheldon adelson is worth 30 billion dollars. Let's say he only "invests" 1 billion dollars to kill off online gaming in Nevada. Population of nevada is 2.8 million people. That means everyone would would have to give/invest $357.15 to equal Sheldon's monetary cause. But yeah, it's worse than that. Completely worse.

If it comes to money, Sheldon wins. And he is counting on that fact.

Since you supported him, will you feel out Senator Heller's position?

In the OP, you linked an article that says Harry Reid is open to taking a bribe to attach a bill. People who take bribes to change public policy are not influenced by emails, especially when it's clear they are coming from a small but coordinated group. Use your time to drum up some outrage from non-poker people.

If we can't get poker people outraged about a threat to poker, what hope do we have to get non-poker people outraged?

And what would you do to drum up that outrage?

Reid "I know Sheldon Adelson. He's not in this for money; he's in this because he's got certain ideological views. Don't pick on [Adelson]. He's not in it to make money.”

So gross, how can you even say this with a straight face.
