Last year, AUFA drew 137.

Kevmath, how many entrants last year?

I only ask because you know everything, and I'm curious.

Thanks for the update

Matt Damon, Phil Gordon and Carter Phillips are all talking about online poker at their table and, specifically, who's a winner. Gordon claimed that, of everyone who's ever opened an online poker account, only 3% are lifetime winners.
Does Gordon's 3% claim sound accurate?

About 3.50%

Shrug, does that count rakeback, bonsues, and player points? Seems like a fairly low number regardless...

But Gordon has to be one of the few people in this world who could possibly know the answer so it just might be right.

the numbers are down b/c
people became aware their AUFA money would be going to Center for American Progress run by John Podesta, for "advocacy" rather than hungry Africans

If that's true, I'm guessing Admo's issue and the resulting discussion of it would be a significant reason that more people this time around considered where the money was going.

If people wanted to actually put their charitable giving to good use:

The best ways to support ongoing relief efforts in Africa

Don't see the Centre for American Progress on there, surprisingly.

lol if Gordon really said that. As an owner of a site, why would you ever communicate that fact in a public setting. Not good PR imo.

Was this on DN's list of reasons why Annie Duke is a douche? He should be made aware of this thread if not.

Don't think it matters much - everyone thinks they are, or at some point will be, part of that 3% anyway.

Go back to the first post, I added a couple of Admo's posts to the OP.

Cliffs:

He donated 10% of what he won to Ante up for Africa, with a more substantial portion to other charities.

Just a reminder about Annie Duke's character, and the fact that everything she touches seems to be a scam.

3-4% is roughly the same fraction of entrepeneurial investments that make a profit.

one of the many ways poker is a godd**n perfect metaphor for life. others include high barriers to entry in making real money and everyone being a liar. also drinks are overpriced and there never seem to be any good women around to talk to.

wonder how don cheadle is dealing with this. he has started other, highly rated charities. reminds me of the 1 charity streep had that went bad and tarnished her rep regarding charities, even though she also had several good ones.
