How does someone who has supported thieves and is continued to be employed by thieves ever get to be in a position to organize charity events? Isn't having stellar character kind of a minimum requirement for such an activity? Why would Harrah's take the risk of associating themselves with the likes of Duke?

Admo said he was going to donate. Not like as soon as someone pledges their portion, the money is insta shipped to Africa anyway. Admo has a few questions for Duke .... that's his right. Dakarai's village will be getting that 100 lb bag of rice, those 5 ak-47s, and that RPG, soon enough. If Duke will Ante Up For Admo maybe he'll throw in enough for an extra 100 lbs of rice.

I'm an Admo fan, and from what's been posted so far it looks like AP/UB/AUFA are far more in the wrong here than him. No surprise, since AP/UB are still the scum of the industry. That said, I agree with those who have said that holding back his de facto pledged donation until AP/UB releases names doesn't seem right. If instead, on top of his pledged amount, he were to offer to donate an additional amount if the names are released, that would seem more like the high road and would still make good use of all the attention that's being focused on this situation.

TBH I've always been very wary of charity tournaments. Giving $2500 to a charity of your choice and playing a $2500 tournament seems to be to be a much more efficient way of doing the same thing, except that no one sees you on TV being all charitable.

When I moderated this forum, there was a user who got into some sort of beef with Admo (I forget his name). Anyway, this user went so far as to start making personal threats against Admo in some of the threads he was stalking Admo in. I permabanned this user after he ignored warnings to stop. Admo contacted me via PM and asked me to reverse this ban (which I did). Admo is a stand-up guy and I believe him.

I don't agree that the charity trumps all here. The charity organizers need to do a better job of picking their bedfellows. Annie Duke has a lot to answer for regarding her continued affiliation with UB. To this day, she hasn't.

It is not proper to claim that because Annie is appearing in the context of a charity event that nobody can touch her. Really? What if the charity had chosen O.J. Simpson as a host? Or Bernie Madoff? Are they then off limits and can get the benefit of positive press exposure (A.D. is a celebrity and that is a tangible good that she gets from this) while being protected.

This would not be an issue for the charity if they had chosen more wisely. Really, they have a poker pro as a host that has worked for a cheating, scamming poker company for 7 years; has defended them publicly while refusing to acknowledge the truth while making up lies herself; refuses to disassociate from UB and refuses to use her "pull" to help give the poker community information regarding the cheating scandal.

Admo's the ****ing man. That is all.

On the one hand i agree. But on the other there is a reason fundraisers do auctions and other public events - it gets people to pay attention to it and it will increase the amount they take in.

Plus you dont often have the chance to donate $2500 to some charity then go play a $2500 tourney with Matt Damon, Sarah Silverman and other celebs i dont care as much about.

Is it a sad indictment of these "charitable people" that they need this TV coverage to make them donate, or is it just a sad indictment of human nature. A lot of the people who played this are already rich, so when you get quotes that "Darfur is close to my heart" you have to wonder how much they donate outside of this event, but meh. Ignoring the people behind it and assuming the vast vast majority of money goes to help people then it would be pretty cold to begrudge them holding the event.

Fwiw i think these charity events should always be something like $X buying and they have a prize for winning like a car donated by some company or whatever. But then ive no clue about Nevada gaming law on charity events so maybe they couldnt do so. Whilst the rest of that email is BS, i agree with this Hunter person than the set up is open to abuse as they did it.

Btw, who designed the AUFA website, did Don Cheadle himself code it - it looks like one of those shady scam sites claiming to be a charity. It also has even less information about the organisations structure, where the money has gone in what proportion and details like that than the average scam site would have.

Fwiw, if i were Admo, when it comes to donating his pledged amount id give it direct to the two charities that AUFA represents. Would be reaaaaalllly interesting if Duke and co have a problem with that

I am just wondering....but having the names of the people that used the superuser accounts does what exactly? Everyone knows Russ Hamilton's name, yet the guy walks around free and does whatever he wants to, for the most part. I guess a list of names could show just how high up the cheating scandal went but do you think UB, if they agree to provide a list of names, is really going to oust everyone involved? I doubt it.
