I sent them an email on October 18th, asking them whether they had a timeline for the cheques for Europe; got an answer saying:
"Thank you for contacting us. Our records show a check was mailed on October 13, 2017."
On November, 9th I was getting nervous / impatient as a friend of mine already got his cheque (same country, different city, got his petition approved 2-3 weeks before myself), so I again sent them an email - asking for a tracking number.
Of course they didn't have any, but they validated my mailing address and told me that there is the option of cancelling the first cheque and reissuing another one.
I decided against it as I had the hope of it arriving soon. However, 8 weeks passed by (they always talk about 4-6 weeks, don't they?), so now I will wait another week and then probably have it reissued (though that probably means I'll have to wait even longer because I expect them to send it with another wave which has yet to come).

No, they didn't explicitly send an email, but you can ask them for the status of your check. Would relieve me if there were more Europeans still waiting (don't understand how cheques can still be a thing 2017, lol), because that could mean such a delay is nothing unusual.
Best regards and GL to all of you,
