how did you know you had an issue with Treasury offset program? Did GCG notify you by phone/email or you called?

I called them after reading the update on GCG web page to make sure something like my current and in "deferment" student loans wouldn't effect my AB payments.

It turns out, someone with a different name and address used my social security number to take out a FEMA loan that is in default. I would never have know this had I not called the Treasury number. I urge everyone to do so. Looks like I have a bunch of forms to verify my identity, as of now until this dispute is resolved, FEMA and the Treasury are keeping my AB settlement.

The loan was taken out around the same time I had a car stolen too.

Unbelievable I wait 7 years, for this, and now who knows how long for the Treasury and FEMA to reimburse/ and also remove any marks from my credit.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
do you know you are entitled to annual free credit reports from the 3 agencies? most ppl stagger them every 4 months so you always have a fresh look into your credit history/status.

Ideal scenario after the Sept 7th change. They could have easily waited for the adjusted deadline before reviewing all petitions but instead it is completed a month before. I believe 50-55m was available to be claimed so 33.5m for a first wave is a nice chunk.

Anybody else noticed the changes on the payment methods? Seems like ACH will be restricted to USA residents only (no more sending to a friend/family member in the states via ACH if you are a ROW player?). For ROW it looks like they have opened up the possibility of sending wires depending on your country? Will be interesting to see how flexible they are with preferred payment methods for each ROW player.

Update on Treasury Offset Program:

I found out that during Hurricane Katrina, someone must have used my social security number with their name, applied and was issued a grant from FEMA, before FEMA verified that the name and SSN matched, FEMA then tried to recollect the grant because of the identity fail, and never got any response so they handed the debt over the Department of Treasury for collection. It has not shown up in my credit report, and my tax refunds have never been withheld most likely because the SSN and name do not sync. Treasury said there is a possibility that the SSN was transposed or a clerical error as well.

Everyone should make the quick call to the automated Treasury number listed on the Home Page of the AP claim to make sure something like this hasn't happened to them that may interfere with getting your AP monies.

So what are the odds we get paid, 97%?

Well I just reread the 8/7 update and it looks like we should be getting emails this month with regards to payment. This is going down exactly how full tilt remissions went down if not smoother so that's sweet (GCG handled both).

I disagree with making random calls to that number. They clearly state that you will be notified by email if your payment will not be in full.

Then make the call.

In the process for FT, they gathered the banking info in the same time window as claims were filed. Then after the DOJ approved the wave of remission payments, GCG did test deposits a week or two later and then the payments went out usually within a couple of weeks.

The process this time for AP/UB is different as GCG has waited to ask for the banking info until after the DOJ approval for the wave. Based on past performance, I'd give them about 4-6 weeks to get payments out after asking for the banking info. Might go quicker though if they do the payments in batches as the banking info comes in.

called yesterday to see if there was a way to see if I was one of the 7400 approved claims and if any additional information was available. Phone attendant read from script and said I'd get a call back. Received call back around 7 pm est. She didn't know much more than original phone attendant, but stated there was no "list" of the approved claims.

The famous "chris" from GCG FTP claims knew if you were going to get paid or not in upcoming waves. I was in wave 4 or 5 (disputed) and he knew a year in advance when I was going to get paid after my dispute was approved, so someone knows something, it just seems like you have to get lucky with who answers the phone.

Just seems like such a small number 7400 approved claims from alleged 1.2 million e-mails that were sent regarding AP/UB reimbursement

I look at it more in terms of dollars. Unless my thought process or math is wrong there was 50-55m on the site when it officially went down. You take away balances of affiliates and pros you could be looking at 45-50m available to be claimed in total.

33.5m out of 45m is a pretty big chunk for a first wave. Everybody knew when this process started that 10-20% of the balances were not going to be claimed for x number of reasons. My guess is that you will see 100% reimbursement on the balances and that very few people who filed before June deadline were rejected.

How many people in 2017 have accounts on any major poker site (i.e. Stars, Party, 888) that have more than a couple of $$ in them?

Heaps of dormant accounts (deposit once or twice and done), and even the active (as of Black Friday) accounts with a few bucks in them aren't likely to go through the hassle.

Obv. still folks with $$ who just aren't aware - would be curious how many accounts there actually *were* that had $100+ in them...

ROW players:

got an answer about possibility to transfer the money to a family member/friend with a bank located in the US.
Couple of weeks/months ago they said it will be no problem. They will only need bank account information. Friday i got this email
Looks like copy & paste answer but still.

Quote:
Dear xxx,

The funds will be distributed based on the residency of the Petitioner. For Petitioners residing outside of the U.S., payments will be made via a foreign currency check. In cases where a foreign currency check cannot be made, the payment will be made via USD check.

If you filed 2 Petitions and if both are approved you will receive 2 payments.
