Can you or anyone else knowledgeable on this subject give me the best places to look up the relevant info or tax law please? My father is a CPA and will be looking into this for me. I originally claimed that money (or at least the earned part for that year) as income but then later wrote it off as a loss when it was apparent the money went bye bye.

Anything i could do to steer him in the right direction would probably be appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Check the US Taxes Sticky I linked in my last post, and the references given there.

Looks like the petition deadline date has been moved back 3 months

The deadline to submit a Petition for Remission is September 7, 2017 (the "Bar Date").

called GCG and guy on phone confirmed push back of date to Sept 7th. I asked if any claims received would be forwarded to DOJ for approval and possible payment before the Sept 7th date, but he really know anything and just said e-mail your questions to info@absolutepokerclaims.com I also asked when are are they going to start requesting bank information and he said customers can always update their files by e-mailing their bank information over at any time.

E-mailed GCG about all of this so will post back when I hear something.

Looks like ftp had waves of payouts with deadlines yet to be reached but I believe those were for different entities (pros/affiliates). Kind of ****ty news as I do not see why GCG/DOJ would send out payments before the deadline is reached?

Welp one explanation could be that FT also had multiple deadlines.

I almost freaked out last night when I realized that a good buddy of mine had over 6k on absolute on blackfriday. He had no idea and got no email. ANd most of us like me got an email in our spam folder.

His balance was correct to the penny and he submitted his petition last night. With that being said, they are likely extending the deadline because of such a small number of players applied for remission.

I told my buddy that I would not be shocked if they asked us for the bank routing and acct number for the ach transfer very soon.

Once they ask for that your money is coming in a few business days.

So they probably got like 90-100 claims so far (from a player pool of 200k?) lol

I reached out to GCG last night and got a reply this morning:

The extension to file was ordered by the Department of Justice however this will not delay the review process. We will be reviewing Petitions on a rolling basis.

At this time we do not have a distribution date available. You can check back in about 4 to 5 weeks to see if we have any updated information on when the payments will be going out.

The payments will be made electronically (ACH); once the petitions are approved we will contact you for your banking information.

Seems promising - Makes me think the reason they extended the deadline is because so many people didn't file. Can anyone else confirm this? Maybe someone from the PPA?

I'll see if we can get info on this. I sure hope it's true. They surely have a reasonable idea of the amount of money they'll need, so it's entirely possible that they can get started.

I contacted them and looks like only ACH for wires (no SWIFT/IBAN). Most non-US will get paid by check I believe.

"rolling basis" and "check back in 4 to 5 weeks" sounds somewhat promising even with deadline getting extended

But how many zeroes can fit on a check? They'd better write small on yours

Talked to a guy from the GCG (sounded like it was his first day) but after being put on hold several times, informed me that no payments will be made until after that September deadline. Sucks to wait an additional 3 months on top of the first deadline but it is what it is. From the convo I had it looks as tho we won't see our $$$ till around the new years tbh

Anyone have any luck finding more out and whether payments will be delayed until after Sept 7th or if they will actually be on a rolling basis starting in a few weeks?

standard response to email I sent.

Thank you for contacting us. We will have your banking information associated to your petition. However, prior to sending out payments, you will still be contacted to verify your banking information.

The extension to file was ordered by the Department of Justice however this will not delay the review process (September 7, 2017).
