Seriously there's no way to justify this behavior other than: "I'm a douchebag and I like watching other people be douchebags at the poker table."

It's ****ing HORRIBLE for the game in every way.

It seems most people think the table was so tilted because of his table talk but it was clearly because of his incessant tanking. His annoying, uncreative table talk just made him an easier target for criticism. There is an unwritten code of ethics of sorts that involves basic human decency at the table, and not disrupting the flow of game play with deliberate tanking on a regular basis. Taking 9 minutes to fold 33 to a 20bb shove is a clearly deliberate tanking to anyone who has a clue about tournament poker, at no point in that hand did he seriously consider calling off I promise you.

And lol at Gordon Vayo claiming Kassouf "brought that women to tears" that was soft as ****. I think that kind of table talk is completely fine.

That was definitely soft as ****. But the nerd telling the other guy "I'm sorry you had to go thru that." was softer than baby ****! I would've smacked that nerd if he said that to me.

I agree he didn't "bring her to tears", but I don't agree that kind of table talk is completely fine.

In fact, I think there will be a new rule next year specifically addressing this scenario.

If you put your opponent to a big decision for all or most of their chips, or any decision at all for that matter, you shouldn't be allowed to incessantly badger them while attempting to coerce conversation. It's not fair to the player who is trying to think about the hand and make a sound decision.

So I believe a rule will address: If Player A has clearly indicated he wants no part of conversation with Player B, Player B can not continue to incessantly badger and attempt to coerce conversation.

This requires foresight though. If you hadn't mentioned this before being badgered for the first time, then it requires you verbalize this preference at a time when you likely would prefer not to speak. That's why at Kassouf's table people were standing up for the all-in player.

Generally speaking, making new rules due to one sociopath out of several thousand people may not be the most efficient way of handling things - perhaps clarifying definitions and penalties for taunting, abuse, disruption to the game, tanking, etc (especially for serial offenders).

Also, the whole interaction between Kassouf and Matuson was not shown in the broadcast - people on this forum shouldn't comment about it without knowing the full details (other players at the table, on the other hand, did have this benefit)

May I remind you of the old excessive celebration rule, the 'Hevad Khan Rule'

Generally speaking, new rules are introduced precisely because someone uses a previously unused/undiscovered loophole to their advantage to the point that it becomes a hindrance to the game. This is just the latest instance that could well introduce a new rule.
The single oversized chip rule would be another good example.

Don't know why you harsh on him so much, I thought he came across as very well-reasoned, professional, and just trying to look out for everyone's interests when dealing with an attention-seeking disruptive jackass. Kudos to Effel as far as I'm concerned.

I hope William starts selling "Like a Boss" t-shirts at some point

I mean, he can't sell any less than Phil Helmuth's "PH" wear

I do give him kudos for being able to pull off 'nine high like a boss' legitly twice so that he made sure he could repeat every single line that he had already said.

The new rules wouldn't affect the several thousand people because they aren't the ones taunting people. It would only help to protect them. It's not in the same boat as say a medical marijuana patient dies so they outlaw medical marijuana.

He's the adult in the room. Although it might not be appreciated on 2+2 forums, every large room needs one. For those of you who disagree, come back in 15 years - and enjoy a good laugh at your younger selves.

The number of Will defenders on this thread, some even going as far to say that the people around him were out line, reinforces the stereotype that the majority of the poker community are full of narcissistic *******, with ass-backwards standards and no clue how the real world works. If you think that idiot was the victim in this situation, you're an embarrassment, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Well you wouldn't, because you're a phony internet tough guy. But if beating people up is your solution to any slight, you wouldn't be on two plus two, you would have been admitted to an inpatient facility getting diagnosed with a mental illness.

Have you ever had a conversation with a human being in your life? There are these things called "social cues" that can inform you of a person's desires even if not explicitly stated.

Have you ever tried to talk to someone, and they don't ever answer you back? That means that the person does not want to have a conversation with you, and would likely prefer that you stop talking to them. It generally does not mean that the person just wants to listen to you talk.

I was taught this when I was in first grade.

Agoo, you weren't at the table with this chap, were you? You seem to have a vendetta.....

The tanking was horrible, the talking is great for the game and something that needs to happen more. Seems to me the "pros" at the table let a $1/$2 player (self admitted on Joey's podcast) get into their head, which is funny.

Please explain what rules he broke by talking during the hand. If the action is completed and it's on you (like when the player is all in) you can talk all you want.

Call the clock, stop being cry babies, profit?
