so i'd say the above post is pretty accurate

i'm invested because i think the 'talking rule' is completely dumb and to see people take that rule as an opportunity to kill a live hand is very tilting

I have to say I completely misjudged Will. I hated him in the moment initially. After listening to Adam & Terrance discuss the topic, I watched the next two episodes with an open mind. He did nothing wrong. Furthermore, he is great for poker and I plan to start incorporating some of what he does in my game. I love that he calls it speechplay..I'm pretty sure he would crush the debate tonight haha..

FWIW, "you'll never put me on this hand, on these cards" is a good tell that someone holds 2 randoms.

(It's pretty good chatter if it rattles someone looking at a board showing two small connectors. That said, I seldom see an over-pair fold after hearing that chatter; the effect usually is to induce a call. So, I was surprised she folded.)

Thanks for reminding me why I dont play live poker OP. Everyone in that entire sequence who opened their mouth tilted the living **** out of me.

Haven't read through all the comments but just watched all the ep's up to this point in time.

My opinion: penalty was fine but not necessarily warranted because he may not have crossed that line yet. That said, his comment afterwards proves his character. Great line for TV, but he's an a** for continuing with the assault after the hand is over.

Was that annoying dude the one who was stalling for the mincash? Remember thinking would have hard time not to hit him irl. Which is one of the reasons don't play live. Dont have the nerves for people like that when money is in play.

E in some tournament. Cant remember was it wsop ept or what.

Quite possibly, why not?

The penalty was wrong and Effel is an autocrat who doesn't like to listen, but Kassouf is a douche. I would tell him to be quiet when the action is on me and I'd call a clock on him every time he thinks more than ten seconds or so.

I guess he's good at poker, to the extent that mindless windbags are good for poker.

All you guys complaining and talking **** about how Kassouf was out of line. Lol, grow a pair of balls you pussies. This is poker where millions are on the line. Not some Sunday morning, kitchen table game with gramps in the rocking chair.

There's a reason why the woman with the QQ's is there and sharks gather to rip players like her apart/empty their souls and send them packing to their neighborhood tribal casino.

If Kassouf is reading this, damn good play mate and Effel get the **** out here. If only you knew, you work for the players at the series not the corporate bureaucrats that will cut you loose at a moments notice.

Stupid Ruling... Horrible by that broad for trying to say she would of made that call and her aces would of got through if that a"situation" never happened....

I think that guy is kinda funny tho haha he's an idiot and I would hate playing with him but it's comical to watch on tv and that's nice for a change

Better then deeb coming off like an absolute douche

I find that guy beyond annoying. ESPN seems to have hitched their coverage to him so I've skipped most of it. He's so bad I'd rather listen to Norm Chad tell the same joke he's been using for a decade.

Nothing is as pathetic as a bunch of dweebs opining about how wrong it is, and how they wouldn't call the clock in _______ situation.

WTF That guy has every right to call the clock and doesn't have to justify or explain to anyone. It's ridiculous.

If you watch the altercation in full, you'll realize that Jack was completely unreasonable. He literally didn't even try to understand the situation.

I hope you read this Jack - you suck. Nobody likes you. Your decisions are ridiculously arbitrary. Please quit. Hope your power boost has given you some much needed self-esteem.

Edit - Good job on ESPN for not trying to hide the fact that Jack Effel is a complete moron as well.

BTW I'm tlaking about WSOP ME Ep 5, First hand of the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzWKF70CyBU

...And then for Stacie Matuson to basically blame Will for her horrendous fold like a big baby is so ridiculous and lel-worthy. What has poker come to?

Agreed. Pretty sure someone mentioned in the other thread that she had been thinking for 5 or 6 minutes at that point. I think given the hand in question that's more than enough time, taunting or not taunting.

Plus given his play in the latest episodes the clock caller was a rec player and not the sort of person you want to scare away from poker.

Table talk is in general good for the game as it makes the game more sociable and appealing to new players, however I'd say that Kassouf's talk reached the point where some people watching will avoid the game due to not wanting to be subjected to a barrage of never-ending chatter when playing and having to make decisions.

That said, Matuson was clearly not any closer to making a decision after taking all that time, she was simply torn between what is an obvious strategic call and Hellmuthian nittery about her 'tournament life', and the table talk was unlikely to have made her decision any harder or easier.

From what happened it was clear that Kassouf was only penalised AFTER refusing to stop talking or gesturing, so I don't see how this penalty can be considered excessive.

Finally, excessive tanking is probably the main turn-off to new players, and both Matuson and Kassouf are huge culprits of this (Kassouf especially). Just from watching him in the episodes so far he'll be tanking facing an AIPF with 86 just for TV time or to monologue. Just fold your hand and stop wasting everyone's time.

Automatic shot-clock is once again the solution.

If tanking or excessive talk annoys you, rest easy that you will only get one minute of it (or less) as decided by the shot-clock. Good for the game.

I think good for poker always means poker playing characters people want to be like/can relate to and dreaming of making money like they do. In the last few years, including this one, the poker mainstream media was horrible.
Tv needs more big names with big wins and awesome (success) storys.
They could have made so many big storys out of the series events f.e. when ivey made endless final tables a few years back or countless others that are truly interessting for the poker fan, dreaming of making it to the wsop one day. Instead they show us desperate, overplayed "storys" of miserable people who are no better than the avg. donk every year again.
