Re: "9 high like a boss"

It seems like there are two separate things going on with Kassouf, and it seems that people want to combine them in various ways. Apparently even his table-mates wanted to conflate them into one big issue, but they are very separate:

• Tanking excessively
• Talking a lot and being verbally annoying

The talking isn't the problem, especially as apparently he was fully capable of tanking a long time without talking. And many people, as we know, tank excessively these days anyways. Seems to me if we could separate these two things, we can say something like:

Good job for Kassouf talking and trying to be entertaining/fun, but bad job for him taking so long to act.

I feel like too many people are conflating the two issues and mixing the badness of one in with the other when it's too separate issues going on here.

No excuse for his table mates to reference how low he usually plays. That is completely classless/ignorant and I felt embarrassed for them that they'd bring that up.

Re: "9 high like a boss"

Don't have an issue with Kassouf talking while making a decision. But the incessant talking at players who are making a choice seems pretty crappy. The table ganged up on him though and it made Josephy and Vayo and that other dude whose name I already forgot look bad.

But the clock is a problem. It seems he's taking too much time preflop. But this isn't a kassouf problem it's a poker problem

Do you really think he was trying to be entertaining and fun? Seems like he was trying to be annoying/tilting, and had a two-pronged plan of attack. So I don't see the babbling and tanking as all that separate.

Yeah, whatever his reasons, it doesn't matter to me. If I ran my own tournaments, all talking would be allowed once heads-up.

He said he was trying to put the table on tilt without breaking any rules, And that's what he did. More power to him, but don't get pissed when people call you out on it,

Put headphones on, let him talk to himself or listen to him if you are into that kinda thing. It's not rocket science.

Personally, being an English guy, I find his voice hilarious. So I might listen to him to cheer me up.

Re: "9 high like a boss"

I honestly feel like either there is a majority of ppl on here who have never been deep in a live tournament and how incredibly annoying a serial tanker is or that Kassouf has like 30 accounts. There really isn't another explanation for all the posters that don't see Kassouf was 100% in the wrong.

And I seriously doubt Josephy and Effel are buddy buddy

Re: "9 high like a boss"

The tanking was a problem, but it isn't a problem that is unique to him. I very rarely play live poker tournaments any more because it is entirely too slow and boring. I have no clue why people think they need 10 minutes to make a decision. Like really, what are you getting in minute 10 that you couldn't have figured out in minute 2? It's ridiculous and the TD's around the country need to put an end to it.

I'm more than fine with his chirping as long as it doesn't slow the game down, but it did in many cases. Overall, I thought he was hilarious and all of the lollivepros came off looking like dbags.

Edit: That lady he owned and got to make an awful fold seemed like she was pretty miserable.

Re: "9 high like a boss"

As annoying as kaaouef comes orf at times his talk was never disrespectful or crossed the line, I feel like the table came off looking incredibly worse and really immature, bunch of grown men whining and ganging up like children....was pretty sad and shocking to see honestly

Re: "9 high like a boss"

I'm a laddering ***** so would love to have Kassouf at my table at that stage of the main.

Also, while I'm no fan of Kassouf per se, he actually ended up coming off the best at that table in the end.

Jared Asperger's, Josephy the wolf of wall street sociopath and Moss came off far worse. Moss looks like he'd like to bend over for Josephy actually.

By the way that Romanian guy Valentin was either trolling espn or came to the USA very young I take it.

Re: "9 high like a boss"

Valentin Vornicu was a part of the Romanian team for the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) in 2001 and 2002. In 2002 he earned a bronze medal at the IMO. He graduated at the University of Bucharest in 2006, and got his Master's Degree in Algebra and Number Theory at the same University in 2008.[3] Vornicu also, in 2007, discovered a generalized form of Schur's inequality, usually cited on online forums as "Vornicu-Schur inequality", which he published in a problem-solving book titled Olimpiada de Matematica.

why would he troll espn ?

Re: "9 high like a boss"

well, as hard as it is to imagine after the fall of communism romanians of my age (one year older than vornicu) have been heavily immersed in american culture. romanian tv does not double movies as we have subtitles so mainly every 30 something romanian speaks "american". we actually learn "american" in school instead of english, if that makes any sense

later edit: it's very common indeed that eastern europeans speak english with a russian accent which he doesn't, kudos to him !

Re: "9 high like a boss"

It's kind of dumb how Effel kept going on about how WK should not talk to his opponents while making a decision when it was actually him who needed to make a decision. Ep. 12 was horrible IMO. Very little poker. WTF was ESPN thinking ? This isn't a TV Drama or a sitcom, it's poker. so show us poker ffs.

Think you should be watching the replays of the big online tourneys on stars m8.

The ESPN poker coverage is primarily drama based and always was.

Re: "9 high like a boss"

I have been at tables with talkative people. I have been at tables with tankers. I have never been at a table with a talkative, serial tanker. Therefore, I don't know how I would react but I can guess it would be of great frustration...just as the players at the table were feeling. The more he tanks the more you find everything about him annoying. In a tournament this deep you at sitting with the same players for extended periods of time. It's his right to talk (within the rules) and it's your right to call clock. If you don't then sorry, that's on you.
