Kassouf would never get invited into my home game. Niwinski came off as a great, super fun guy, I would insta-invite him. Some of the others (like Vayo or Josephy) crossed the line a couple of times, but I would not mind them in a homegame, except for some lines during the whole Kassouf drama, they seem pleasant to talk to.

One point regarding Niwinski that I feel it is very important to express.

If someone who is such a nice, genuine, down-to-earth bloke can get SO MUCH hate, boy... do I feel frightened about being 100% open about who I am in today's world. Can't we all simply be just a touch more... accepting? Is it really THAT hard to do so? I mean, how in the world is that comment even still there?

probably stated already but amount of time taken vs. obnoxious table talk are two separate issues. As a rec/semi-reg both tilt the $%^ out of me and I'd never want to play in a game, or an event with him in as he just makes the whole thing so unpleasant regardless of outcome. So bad for the enjoyment of the game by folks like me

Serious question, what perceived privilege did Kassouf have in this spot? Is being Canadian a protected class now? Anyone have any idea what he was getting at?

But that's not the case is it? Because people in this thread have played with him and have given their feelings about him too. Just because some people have an opinion based on what was shown on TV doesn't mean that's the only information everyone ITT has on him.

When I first saw it I wondered (and hoped) Benger was trying to act tilted in his own next level speech play act to try and induce the spazz shove/call from Kassouf, thinking he had TT+ AQ+ but after the all in it was clear it wasn't an act. Disappointing really!

Hope Benger goes out in 9th and Vayo in 8th. But, with my history, I may have ensured they end up heads up.

And Kassouf goes out in EPT Kk v AA and apparently same speech play.

kassouf made benger, josephy and vayo look like whining pu55ies without him in any way being abusive. benger was left looking particularly silly after his ridiculous "abusive" accusations - especially if kassouf's allegations of racism from benger and his rail are true

I remember reading the hand summary which quoted someone saying he took ten minutes but how long did he really take with KK?

The hand summary was IMO more entertaining than the edited ESPN replay. But then I thought the flush board hand was more fun to watch than AA vs KK.

It seems Benger is being judged off one thing. He admitted he lost his cool and said things he shouldn't have said. I'm a bit surprised there's a lot of judgment from it. I agree with others that say after 7 days of high stress poker all day long it's easier to get frustrated. I wonder how many hands were played at a table where WK played vs another average table.

The hate should go to Vayo for spreading lies about him to people and continuing to do so on Social Media. This is really why Benger reacted as he did, because he came in with impressions of WK that were wrong because of Vayo lying about him.

Most of the other players managed to come off looking worse than WK.. including Josephy. It is possible to disagree with what someone else is doing and express it in a way that makes you look like an adult with social skills.

I'm guessing that in Benger's view, WK thought he was OK to say and do whatever he wanted even though it was upsetting others. I don't necessarily agree with that view and I think Benger realises he was wrong now, but I believe that was where he was coming from.

This is the first I have heard of this. Since they are all white males involved I am very curious as what racist was said.

Yes, it means that white male Canadians are of a lower and oppressed class when compared to the white male British imperialist.

Or most likely it means that Benger made an extremely ignorant comment that further solidifies that political correctness has now infected the poker subculture. It's also a testament to the fact that poker "pros" know how to construct 3,4,5 bet ranges, calculate EV and hand read, but somehow did not acquire the attribute of focus and concentration in their long careers so they could tune out Kassouf's table talk.

If we're going to talk about privilege and entitlement, a poker "pro" running to their mommy and daddy (floor director) to complain that an amateur is tilting them with their talk is embarrassing.

The first course of action for any mature professional would be to address Kasouff personally and request him to stop talking. The next would be to call the clock. It's the obvious and courteous thing to do.

Kasouff is good for poker and t.v. If we want to see a renaissance in the game to bring more recreational players in, we need more players like Kassouf, not more "pros" wearing hoodies, sunglasses, and headphones sitting in their seats like statues.

esprit d'escalier certainly exists, but I'd have a fair chance of coming up with that line or something similar. No guarantees, of course, but verbal presence under pressure usually isn't a problem for me, and I'm not the sort to vent like Joseph or vayo, or resort to third grade like bleznick.

But I should probably have phrased my post a little differently, i.e. aspirationally.
