A lot of money is at stake, and if he can push whatever edge he can to get it, more power to him.
So you'd sit there, quiet and frustrated, and let your opponent continue to push this edge (if it actually is one) against you and the rest of the table, while other tables are playing 50% more hands?

It doesn't really sound like the best strategy, to be honest.

I get the feeling alot of these people bashing the rest of the table would be all 'LMAO why are these pussies letting Will get away with tanking every single hand they are losing so much EV lols." if they stayed silent.

I really don't understand the people in this thread who argue talking is good for the game and we need more like him, he's not engaging people in conversation he's simply spouting the same ****ty lines over and over. That's far worse than people sitting in silence! Would someone singing happy birthday to you every time someone had a decision be good for the game as well... cos "well its better than sitting in silence" lol

I am going to take a pair of cymbals to next year's ME and bang them every time a decision is on me. Kassouf is no different.

yea, you could take that reasoning further and say that you could manipulate a td into preventing him from using it to tilt people. it's all about edges guys. if tanking every street is fair game then using the td to tilt the player is fair game, all part of the rules.

Few people in the history of poker have more deserved a curb stomping.

I'll first start with all the thieves and see if there is any curb left to stomp against before I get to guys that upset your sensibilities.

He never threw any personal insults at players. Was just talking and obv the most entertaining player, that's proven by how much ESPN showed him.

Quit trying to turn poker into chess. Props to William for making poker fun to watch again.

I thought Kassouf made for very entertaining tv viewing. OTOH, if I was at his table, I would have hated him and his antics. I think, this is something the tournament staff should resolve. Kassouf did not cheat. He acted very inappropriately but there doesn't seem to be any rule against it, despite how long the WS had been ongoing. Just my 2 cents.

I would guess the correlation between fans of Kassouf and Trump supporters is north of 80%.

The tanking was horrible, the talking is great for the game and something that needs to happen more. Seems to me the "pros" at the table let a $1/$2 player (self admitted on Joey's podcast) get into their head, which is funny.

Please explain what rules he broke by talking during the hand. If the action is completed and it's on you (like when the player is all in) you can talk all you want.

Call the clock, stop being cry babies, profit?
Any doubt I had about the generalizations I was making about Masouff's supporters have been completely removed with your response.

No, acting like an incessant dick, spouting the same **** over and over despite everyone asking him to be more respectful is not "good for the game", it makes people not going to go back to a ****ing card room because they can't deal with people with the intellectual capability of a 2 year old.

This whole thing about "breaking the rules" confirms to me how childish you are. See, when people get older and mature, they realize that just because someone can do something, doesn't mean they should.

Yes, technically no rules were broken, but he was still being an unbearable ass and making the game unpleasant for everyone who he was sitting with. People who are responsible and have self-awareness will look at a situation like this and say "Hmmm, this may not technically be against the rules, but I am acting like a dick, and I wouldn't like people doing that to me, so I am not going to do that because I have empathy and I am not a spoiled, entitled brat who needs rules to prevent me from doing something."

yea i agree and someone earlier shared a story about how will joined a game once and the table broke shortly after because of the tanking. you can say it possibly gives him an edge, but it really isn't good for the game if people aren't willing to put up with it if they don't have to.

Actually, there are several WSOP Rules that could be interpreted as being technically broken and therefore penalizable:

Rule 48:
Participant or staff abuse will not be tolerated. A participant will incur a penalty up to and including disqualification for any abuse towards another participant or staff member, and the participant could be asked to leave the property. Repeated etiquette violations, including, but not limited to, touching another participant’s cards or chips, body, or clothing, delay of game and excessive chatter will result in penalties.

Rule 47:
Any participant who taunts another participant through theatrics or gestures or engages in any form of inappropriate behavior intended to disrupt other participants in the tournament will be subject to penalty in accordance with Rules 40, 111, and 112.

As to me i saw that Kassouff really tried to think over and evaluate the situation. Even when he didnt look at his cards (is it that ridiculous as josephy tried to convince everybody?)

If you do it when chips moved to the pot or when you have raised it'll be ok.

By "also" are you inferring Kassouf is socially awkward or the others at the table who, more than likely, are actually socially awkward?

Tell me more

Hey, it's not like pokernews is a hard-hitting, journalistic enterprise. Overall, for a fawning PR fluff piece, I thought it was pretty informative.

But, you're right, it missed the other issue, concerning the business relationship and whether there was any basis for the perceived conflict of interest.

A simple, "Can you tell us about the Dealers Academy and your role in helping them succeed ?"
