Why no one talks about what is going on with 888poker? They steal from customers, I really don't know how these guys still have a gambling licence. This is a site who have partnership with WSOP.

Hundreds of players have their accounts closed and their bankrolls seized with no explanations. 2+2 and the 888 reddit subs are filled with stories of distressed customers.

How do they proceed? Your account is verified for years but one day you request a withdraw, they block your account and ask you to send verifications documents again (ID , utility bills) , the exact same documents you sent in the past. They keep you blocked for weeks and then inform you that they will discontinue your membership and keep your money, and they can't give you any explanations, and you can't contact them anymore.

888 poker has always been a scammy site, but it seems the turning point is 2022-2023 when they were fined 10 millions $ by Gambling commission for social responsability failures and money laundering. Few years ago they also got fined 8 millions $ .

888 has the worst support and technical team in the industry.

888poker has very very scammy moves. For example the Player for player transfer is converted in bonus money. Yeah you heard me right , someone sends you 500$ , you are not going to receive 500$, it will be bonus money that you have to unlock by playing months, lol.

Few years ago I won on 888 a satellite for a live event, they did not contact me or answer any of my emails regarding the event, and 2 days before the event starts they sent me documentations and the money to arrange my trip. I am dead serious.

And I could tell much more other stories about them. I play poker for 15 years , played on many different poker sites I have never seen something like this. 888 gambling licence should be revoked. The medias need to talk about the 888 situation and inform potential future victims. If you don't believe me check this forum in the online section, and the 888poker sub reddit .

I can confirm that I was also scammed by them in different way years back. Their site went offline (issue with their servers). I was unable to sit back when I was playing final table of the tournament. They refused to compensate me as stated in their policy.

Beware of this scamming site.

Yeah 888 are shady AF.

Their bonuses are a literal scam, wagering requirements only start when you lose your entire deposit and they bury this deep in the T&Cs (not in the main ad or even the in the T&Cs in the ad's link). I say scam because this is so far from the well-understood industry standard that literally other site abides by.

The customer support is argumentative and rude, they will just hang up on you halfway through a polite chat. Only hope of resolving anything is via the 2+2 thread.

Not content with having very high rake, and terrible promos worth 1%, they then carve off a ton in sneaky conversion fees when you withdraw (no they dont tell you when you withdraw, they just hope you dont do the maths).

Wouldn't touch them with a barge-poll.

Few years ago , they had a promotion called something like "double monday" , it was 2 tournaments at 22$, if you cash them both , they will give you a 22$ ticket.
I cashed both of the tournaments , they auto register me to a 22$ tournament. I unregister the tournament days before it starts to keep the ticket and use it another day, but no ticket arrived in my account , I contact them , they say : "too bad ,you should not have unregister, your ticket is lost " Real story I could not believe it. Only at 888poker.

They definitely scam on the FX. If you deposit and withdraw $100 from a GBP bank account, straight away so there is no time difference, you will get back about 5% less than you started with. I actually complained to their live support about this and they insisted it was my bank doing it lol. After spending about 20 minutes explaining/proving to live support that it was not my bank, they abruptly ended the session saying I would be contacted by email by someone. Nobody contacted me and they, for some reason, force withdrew my remaining balance to my bank account about 2 hours later. They did not say anything about this and when I tried to deposit and play again my account it was fine.

The bonus even disappears if u dont
use it in time and they make it very difficult to play with that bonus money if u have real funds since the system takes ur real money first if u register/buy-in.

Example: u have 100 there and someone sends u 20. U have to either lose that 100 first or register/unregister future tournaments for 100 to be able to play with the money transfered.

True story and a sad joke by 888.

Can confirm this. Depositing from € account to 888 and you take a hit. After you cashout it takes a week to receive and you take another hit. I know the games are good there (or atleast they were) but I would never play there. I guess this is similar to others talking about gg how they don't undestand why someone plays there lol.

After reading all the posts I am relieved I did not commit more than my first £20 deposit on 888Poker many years ago. But I can confirm the scams the site plays on loyal customers. For example, I spent my Gold coins on a $1 cashback ticket. Except it didn't go straight to my account but was only a bonus money, and could only be used within 30 days, and only if I have no real money balance remaining. I could have spent the Gold coins on an MTT ticket but opted for the cashback, not realising the terms and conditions.

The fact the company openly scams its loyal customers and is still legally operating says much about the governing bodies that regulate poker sites than it does about the shady management at 888Poker.

No savvy business person would ever blatantly scam their loyal customers and run the risk of losing them to a rival competitor. But that is clearly the case with 888Poker, whose player traffic has nosedived into the hundreds at peak hours.

Yet poker players continue to play there......

I don't want to see anyone lose/get scammed out of money. However, you stated it yourself that they had major issues starting in 2022-2023 and there are 2+2 posts and reddit subs everywhere about players getting scrammed. It is 2024 and you are just now posting about getting scammed by them and you are surprised?

This is a pretty easy fix, DON'T PLAY ON 888. There, can I have my $295 consulting fee now?

I will say that cashouts to my UK debit card come through in 15 minutes max, which is nice. But the FX charge is defo scammy.

I personnaly stopped playing there long time ago , no poker medias ever adressed the 888poker situation, I make this thread only to warn the community because I still see new victims.

To scam the players as much as possible, 888 also has 5% essentially uncapped rake and non-existent rakeback. That alone should turn anyone away from the site because you can literally see your balance draining when at the tables.

Also, what makes this a scam is not the FX surcharge per se, but that they run their wallets and games in USD, which obviously is not a currency any of their customers use. They might as well run it in "888coin" and charge 5% to convert "real" money to 888coin and back.

Because most regs figured that site was shady back when it was still called Pacific Poker. Last time I checked it was full of bots and scripters.

I have been trying to withdrawal my money for about 6 month. I am one of the players living in Thailand. I am retired high stakes player. As I always liked 888. 888 was the last place I had money.

I was at the point where I had contacted a lawyer to handle the case from here. Earlier this week I received an email from them. I send in the requested documents. I got my 60k.

I will finally be retiring from online poker.
Good luck to the rest of you. I will repost this in the 888 regulars thread.

I have been battling them for 6 months now to get my "hidden" balance of 20k back, they rejected like 15 different utility bills and other proofs of address, now after I finally verified it, they stopped responding to emails.

Any suggestions what to do?

I had similar situation with some balance I still had on there, just pointless back and forth (me providing utility bills and explanation and everything) with support getting trolled by them and at some point also gotten ghosted by them. I contacted that "888rep" on 2p2 888 thread and he helped me deal with it. After like 4 months I was able to withdraw my balance. gl

Had similar issues with verification for proof of address to get my account unlocked, was a huge hassle but can confirm that the 888rep on 2p2 888 official thread helped fasttrack my case. They are a lot less responsive on emails etc.

Played there mainly until 2012. Rake was insane high but the games were so unbelievable Soft. I also got something like 20% rakeback nonstop. Every time my bonus was played through i simply asked the support and got a new one.
Good old 888 times. Havent played there since years after they charge an unbeatable rake with nearly zero rakeback.
Also had the same problems already mentioned in this Thread with verification and insane fees when depositing/cashing out.

It's pretty unbelievable alright. Unfortunately, you have a subset of posters who will take the instant position that this is somehow the customers fault, or otherwise change the topic.

They'll say "Maybe you were cheating?" Or "Of course you can't send in utility bills in German" or "Duh, they've ALWAYS been shady" or even "They paid me out fine, something must be dodgy with OP" etc etc.

Then suddenly the topic is changed from 888's basic fraud, and onto questions about collusion or if one should have to get their docs translated or some such. Perfect misdirection.

888 is running a scam. They have set up a one-way filter, where money goes in, and does not come back out again, and the catalyst for engaging this fraud is, of course, asking for a withdrawal.

It doesn't matter how much or how little you have played there, or anything beyond wanting to cash out.

At that point, whether it is after five days or five years, they'll demand an entirely new barrage of documents be sent it, refuse to accept them, and then disable your account.

Their "live chat" people will engage with you until the exact second you ask them about something other than depositing or betting odds etc, and then they just disconnect the chat.

Then they'll continue to post messages in the chat like "Are you still there?" or "Is there anything else? If not I'll close the window." You'll hear the messages arriving, even though the screen says "Chat disconnected". After they have faked that the disconnection is on your end for a bit, they'll close it.

They'll send you an e.mail from their Operations Team demanding documents from a no-reply address. Mail to their support addresses immediately gets returned "undeliverable". Their phone contacts are a loop, saying "Contact us online".

This isn't an isolated thing. Reddit, Trustpilot, all their social media, TwoPlusTwo......just pages and pages of people saying exactly the same thing.

At what point do sites like TwoPlusTwo have a responsibility to warn players off? Like it or not, having an "XXYY Players Thread" gives a site some veneer of respectability.
