The new rules cover not just bots and collusion but third party software (clarifying what is allowed and what is not primarily).

Those new rules come fully in to force on 1 October 2017.

They are detailed here:
http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk...-June-2017.pdf

It is the output from a consultation and explains what they are implementing. It's quite long so I will not cut and paste here but it is section 12 & 13 = p25-31 of this PDF - with the timescales for implementation summarised at the end.
I think they should be to refuse service to anyone they suspect of cheating and I wouldn't judge them if they locked OP's account and gave him 60 days to withdraw his balance. The thing is they took the balances of players and they should never do that if they merely have suspicion.

If they wanted to stop OP from playing before those rules kicked in they could just let him withdraw and go somewhere else. It's not an excuse to take the balance.

This same thing happened to me and bunch of other people 2-3 years ago. They did let us withdraw our balances though. Most of the accounts either signed up through affiliate or swapped money with affiliate. This affiliate was doing something shady where he was making extra money through depositing and swapping and never playing and they banned all the accounts he ever swapped with.

i'm pretty sure Richas wasn't looking for any excuse, but rather tried to point out, that new regulations could be the motivation behind this.

No, but 888 might.

Sounds like the common denominator in most if not all of the accounts effected is your involvement w/an affiliate. Maybe the affiliates were involved in some "suspect" activity, 888 is panicking and went with their knee-jerk reaction; cutting their nose to spite their face.

What I want to know is, who was your affiliate? In fact, I'd like to know who everyone that was banned affiliate was. I've looked into this but none of them matched. However, I think maybe they all have a common denominator master affiliate....

Can you prove this? It's pretty huge if you can provide some screenshots of ban and that you haven't deposited

Were you allowed to withdraw your money on that account ?

What you get playing on site that has Shane Warne advertising for 888

When I seen you could call people donkeys by clicking on donkey and sure it made a donkey noise?

Any site that lets its players call each other donkeys is going take your money

Would not be surprised if your affiliate was a donkey, read there terms says only humans can play so if a real donkey signs you up it not good is it

Unlucky and feel for you all but you all did deal with a real life donkey when you signed up.

I disagree its pretty huge. Many reasons why this can happen, like sending in fake/ altered documents, registering with a blacklisted (banned before) pc, etc.

888 is so shady its disgusting, I can't believe WSOP would partner with this trash site.

I also have a "banned" experience from 888. About two years ago I was renting a condo down in Rosarito to play on Stars, mostly just a weekend warrior Sunday funday player as I reside in San Diego. I decided to create an account on 888 after hearing about a Live Tourny satellite they were running, though I don't remember which one, maybe Aussie Millions or WSOP Main.

Thankfully I never deposited on 888, but one day after creating my account (I had never played there before) I got an e-mail with similar language along the lines of "you have been banned and any money you have will be confiscated and not returned". There was no reason offered. I had only created an account the day before. That language of "we will take your money" was so unbelievable I cannot fathom anyone feeling comfortable with money on that pathetic criminal site.

Traffic going to drop so hard if they are banning every account using bots, scripts or scrapers.

If they're banning just those vulturous accounts, that traffic will probably pick back up presumably.

It has always been like that with PacificPoker, and you all know that.

I take it you were never forced or decided to relocate and live in a poker "hotspot", these arent friends i made through poker client chats, they are from going outside in the world

...it seems to be a common thing in the thread that the ability to play poker honestly and having friends are two mutually exclusive things, wtf kind of logic is that

if my posts itt seem salt it's bc i am, these poker sites do w/e the **** they want, they make no REAL effort towards providing fair games and occasionally do stupid **** like this and straight up steal from players, and without fail every single time a bunch of ppl who literally have no idea what they are talking about come in and spout nonsense
in fairness the poker world is filled with complete unethical scumbags and frauds and as time goes on and the games get harder i expect this to get even worse.

not saying you're unethical or anything bad at all, but i get why people are skeptical when it comes to poker players ethics.

Yeah, 888 sucks, but they all suck now.

Moral of the story: Keep only the minimum necessary amount of bankroll on any one site.

This. I'm perplexed how anyone could think an account being banned without depositing is even slightly significant.

Yeah, this could be it. Kind of surprised no one has posted an affiliate name.

Or maybe I shouldn't be surprised. If some affiliates are colouring outside the lines, they may not want their names posted.

If the ban e-mail had that "artificial intelligence" claim as a reason for the ban then it would be a bit curious.

I haven't seen something this funny at 2+2 in a long time. I think they are a perfect match. I'd imagine most people that have ever played at a WSOP.com poker site would agree.

I also play 888 and there is a serious botting issue there too at $3/6+.

I'm not sure if op is genuine or not but that fact a lot of people he knows also got banned sounds suspicious.

I'm glad 888 are taking this issue seriously and taking steps to eradicate the bots before they kill online poker altogether, I just hope no genuine players are cought up in the cross fire...

I play midstakes on 888, and have noticed a crazy amount of Russians playing with almost the exact same stats.

They sit with 40bb.

Sit at tables, and insta sitout with un human like timing.

They seem to work in pairs, and cover the whole of the day.

They then change around, so as not to attract much attention.

Here is a list of these players:

potatoGod - belarus
BrainDrill - russia
Sctname - russia
RatholeKing - russia
ManakaReg - russia
EndrewWiggin - russia
learn_to_fly - russia
xspcnvdrs - russia
RawPork - russia
forkate - russia
