Going with the Tran vs PA theme got me thinking.

Would love to see this lineup @ their primes:

1) Kenny Tran
2) Stu Ungar
3) Chip Reese
4) Tom "Durrrr" Dwan
5) Johnny Chan
6) Patrick Antonius
7) Phil Ivey
8) Chris "Genius28" Lee

8 handed NLH, $200/$400 blinds w/$50 ante, $200,000 buy-in.

If they played this game 5 days a week for a year straight, who would be the winners and who would be the losers?

@their primes for a whole year? Stu Ungar, the rest would probably be broke within a year

under normal circumstances i would say Chip as biggest winner an Stu as biggest loser

Ungar's the fish in that game.

My guess is Ivey as the big winner, since he's such a terrific NLH player and the emotionally even-keeled (other than Reese, who was never known as a top NLH player, though he was doubtless very, very good at the game).

Even in their primes, Unger was always considered an amazing tournament player, and a relative fish in cash games.

There's an ante and this line-up ain't playing a 200-400 limit game. The very idea of a 500BB buy-in infers that it's a non-limit game.

So, unless the OP intended to infer they were playing a mix game of big bet-type games (PLO, NLH, lowball, etc.), I think most of us assumed we were talking about a NLH cash game. If he meant PLO or some mix, then obviously there's some different thinking involved there.

eight handed is too many people for ungar imo. Peterum, Ungar is considered by many as the best ever tournament NLH player.

I reckon Ivey would be the biggest winner along with PA, assuming they're playing NLH. If they were playing horse then presumably reese or ivey

If we're trying to establish the best POKER player here, I'd naturally assume it was a mixed game. 8 handed also allows for stud variants to be played, whereas 9 handed wouldn't.

Where are the nut hanging Durrrr fans? Kind of surprised no one has said Durrrr would crush the live players...etc.
Biggest Winners IMO.
1.PA
2.Ivey
3.Kenny Tran, but then he makes a sick call with J high and looses all his monies.

Why would some people even think this was a Mixed game?
Just look at the line-up people.

I figured the deeper it gets, the better the pure hand readers would be. If you know u're opponent's cards, you're tough to beat.

Are you talking about one session?

In one session any of them would win if they ran sick hot.

Anyone who's money is not on Chip Reese here is either

- mentally deficient

or

- has come to poker in the past 2 years and thinks the game was invented 36 months ago on the internet.

Ungar was a tourney beast back then because he, as I understand from all I've read, was basically one of the first real lags in that game and people didn't know how to properly adapt. Today I really imagine it would be a different story, he was just way ahead of his time. And as far as cash goes, I think it was Doyle who said something along the lines of "If you woke up with top pair, you were stacking Stuey."
