When I see three young, smart professionals making their livings playing poker on national TV, presenting themselves well, I see a few thousand new accounts opening up. I see a lot of, "hey those guys look just like me, not like 50's mobsters or Russ Hamilton, sign me up."
I saw 3 young professionals who are bringing number-crunching software programs to the games, which would make me not want to play with them in games where such behavior isn't even considered cheating.

I mean, why would someone looking to have fun playing a little poker ever want to sit down in games where they're either A) being cheated, or B) not being cheated because the regulars all have such massive databases tracking opponent tendencies.

I exaggerated a little, of course. I don't expect a whole new poker boom. But, I think that the three young men comported themselves well. They didn't look the least bit shady. I don't think the casual person watching would see OMFG poker tracker. I am guessing there's a fair amount of why not me. Maybe there are cheaters, but it seems like these guys are still making a go of it. I hate my job or I just lost 50% of my 401K to another group of cheaters who stole a lot more than $20M, I'll take my chances.

I guess my point is that I don't think the sky is falling because 60 minutes showed some cheaters and a grey building in Canada. I think there is significant upside that there was exposure to some successful people that didn't just fall out of Casino. There's that old saw that there is no such thing as bad publicity, and I really believe that still holds here.

I don't think that the 60 min story was as bad as it could have been but the big problem was it gave the image that all online poker are cheating. No It didn't say this but I ask some poker players and non players what they remember form the story and that was the picture they got from it. I have read some post that say that there is some software that can do this. Now I know this is not true but what they are posting about the story. So a story leave more impression they what is just said and overall I think this was pretty bad for poker.

The version related at my table was similar, that there is software you can buy online that will show all the other hole cards. I tried my best to correct that, but I'm sure at least one spent his day today feverishly googling for any lead as to where this software is.

In fairness, I'm sure individual players have been cheated using spyware on their computers.

yeah like this bull****.

crap like this doesn't help. I highly doubt that someone would sell a program that could make someone tons of money for only $57!!

someone needs to go after this fool who has this website. f'n loser.

I may take you up on this offer. Not because I need $50, but because your screen name is the best.

And now I have lowered the signal-to-noise ratio.

Poker is only banned/kinda because it isn't regulated... This would help convince them to try and regulate it better etzeteraz

Don't mean to revive a dead thread but...In this broadcast there is reference to an xfactor hand playout of the hands played by potripper somewhere on the internet. Anyone have the url or linky for this? I want to see exactly how he played because I am very curious.

Humans are greedy, but they tend to organize too, and that includes when they commit crimes. Hence, organized crime. Hey bozo, grind this limit. Now newest bozo over here, you grind the micros. Percentage of your profit goes to the top, and if you're a lucky little criminal, you might work your way up to the big bucks someday.

Not saying it's happening.

Just saying greedy humans have other traits, too.
