As different stories break. The collective weight of the continued revelations of shady/sketchy/or outright dishonest behavior is pretty discouraging for those of who are recreational players.

Re: From 2p2 Podcast, WSOPc middle man PTC collected ~1mm in undocumented fees during 2011-12 W

Seth Palansky (WSOP Communications Director) was interviewed by Marco Valerio on QuadJacks radio today, and addressed this issue for nearly five minutes.

The entire podcast (51:29) is an in-depth interview with Palansky about his background and the WSOP. To listen to the portion about this controversy, skip to 39:40 to 44:00.

the amount of shady behavior in poker now is so much less than at any prior point, however theres much better independent reporting and community forums (unlike past, and many current ones where people could get banned for having a differing opinion from the site), so a lot more of this bull**** is coming to light. also all players- especially recreational, and regulators are both wisening up a lot.

edit: not disagreeing w/ ur statement at all obv

basically the same thing was posted here in NVG a long time ago, and it got locked/deleted just like this p5's thread (though it still loads for some reason).

Re: From 2p2 Podcast, WSOPc middle man PTC collected ~1mm in undocumented fees during 2011-12 W

Has it been determined if the $1,000,000 for the circuit championship is coming out of the prizepools as well? If so how much?

Has this been disclosed anywhere?

The disdain in his voice when he refers to the podcast is amusing considering he admits it's the first he's heard of an issue that clearly many of his customers are very concerned about.

they really think 2p2 is a big joke and we're a totally irrelevant and out of touch segment of the poker market, although IMO it's probably just because common sense is the rule of law here and they can't operate in that universe

There is no $ coming out of this year's prize pools to help fund the $1,000,000 WSOPC National Championship.

What has been announced is that the top 100 players on the WSOP World Rankings, will be able to participate in the National Championship, provided they pay $10,000. That money will be added to the WSOPC National Championship prize pool.

Todd,

They were supposed to be announced after the November 9 last year, haven't heard or seen anything since. They're supposed to be based on the WSOP/WSOPE results from 2010 and 2011.

In related news, Chainsaw brought up his objections to "staff appreciation" and similar bonus fees in July 2010.

Someone originally questioned Sommerfield's use of the "staff apprecation" fee back in August 2010.

When making the everything's written down so anyone who looks can see it clearly argument, you don't also get to argue that things not written down or written in such a way that many interpret incorrectly, are simply understood.

What I'm surprised no one figured out is that the money left for the November Nine was put into a fund, and they mentioned that the players were getting a piece of that interest, I did that calculation and it was absurdly low. I have no doubt that they put that money into a 6 month CD or something and made a good amount off of it.

Kind of off-topic, but interest rates on CDs are really low and have been for a few years. A 3-month CD now makes about 0.5% annually....which would be 0.125% in 3 months. I really don't think the WSOP made any significant money off this.

Re: From 2p2 Podcast, WSOPc middle man PTC collected ~1mm in undocumented fees during 2011-12 W

Here is the flyer for the WSOPc stop in Florida at the Palm Beach Kennel Club next week. http://www.pbkennelclub.com/document...r201212-29.pdf

Event #1 has three starting days and is predicted to draw as many as 3,000 entries with the $1mil gtd prizde pool. 3000 entries X $10 is an additional $30K unaccounted for Event #1 alone, which is not even the main event. You will clearly see no reference of any kind to the 'staff add-on' and no mention that you will not begin the event with the full WSOP starting stack. You get 9,000T for $555 and 12000T for $10 cash when you sit down in your seat.

They are using PokerTickets.com to give you the opportunity to pre-buy in for $555 online. The site that is pre-selling entries to the event makes ZERO mention of the staff appreciation add-on or the fact that $555 will not give you a full chip stack either. https://pokertickets.com/palmbeach/

The only place it is mentioned is on the structure sheet itself. Just a guess but I would figure that less than 5% of players would hunt down a structure sheet prior to the day of the event.

On a related note seems like all the fast food joints have a tray, jar ect for donations to charities. They don't give receipts to you for your donation also how do you know all the money collected is going to charities and even if it is why should they get the tax deduction after all it is not their money being donated.

Possibly the worst analogy in NVG history which is saying a lot.

Do they only give you half an order of fries if you don't drop some change in the jar?

In a way yes if you want more fries you have to pay for a larger size. But just wondering if all that money goes to charitiy or the companys pockets and if you don't tip in resturants you will probably get extra seasoning (spit) on your next visit if they remember you.
