One important thing regarding tipping to learn from this thread is that the dealers actually get LESS VIA this system.

People assume they have pretipped the dealers, which is not the case, and therefore leave less than they would have....

Re: From 2p2 Podcast, WSOPc middle man PTC collected ~1mm in undocumented fees during 2011-12 W

I'll start off by saying I worked for PTC. $10 add-ons were part of every event I worked. Only once did I have a player turn it down. Rarely did anyone complain or have concerns about where the money went. NEVER a request for a receipt (personally find that comical). The percentages are supposed to be 70/30. At one stop I know for sure, the horseshoe in Iowa, the split was 65/30/5. The 5 taken from the ptc dealers and given to house staff. Wasn't initially informed until jimmy had 3 dealers basically do an audit to check everything. That's how we found out. This could beeverywhere but still not always told. Dealers have a printout of tokes (3%, addon, tips), individual and total downs and I have never seen the money be wrong. I understand that some think that not enough accountability is involved and you are probably right but that doesn't mean that stealing is involved. We should know exactly how many of the total entrants don't take the addon. The reason the addon is done at the table is to keep it ptc money as explained to us. If the money went thru the cage the casino gets their cut. I don't know if this helps anything here but it's rough reading all these posts slamming people based on rumors or no factual evidence. Also, as far as what we get paid, most places is $5/hr plus tokes. The addon is like getting a tip from everyone for a service being offered. The deeper you go and longer you get the service the more you tip. Think of the 3% as standard operating cost. Just like the massage girl, nobody ever complains about tipping someone that just made $30/hr for her and her company or $60 at the series.

lol because it's impossible for the casino to not steal from you? The person who told you this clearly thinks you're not the brightest bulb on the tree.

How about when I pay for dinner with a CC and put the tip on the card? Basically every coffee shop or restaurant has the capability to do what you're saying a multi billion dollar corporation can't.

Ok, I'm assuming you think I'm saying a casino CAN'T simply apply the addon to our tokes without taking a piece. I'm not saying that. What I'm saying is if they do take the addon the WILL take a piece. At most casinos, the only compensation we get from the casino is a check for hourly wage. All other tokes come to us in cash handled by ptc staff. Only a few places do not do this because of gaming laws, and guess what, they get 5% of that addon.

As I said previously there could be a better way to record exactly how many addons are purchased but the math is pretty simple to follow because almost all entrants get the addon.

Because it's hilarious to expect a receipt to reflect the amount actually paid?

Or is it because ten bucks is "no big deal"?

'Cause if $10 is "no big deal", why are so many dealers on here crying about it?

i worked for ptc for two years and never saw any printout concerning these amounts being broken down. the only printout posted, once in a while in the break room, was telling us how much we were getting so far per down.

it NEVER said anything about how the amount was figured out, just what the final number was. whatever they ended up to be at the end, only jimmy new how it got to that amount.

Re: From 2p2 Podcast, WSOPc middle man PTC collected ~1mm in undocumented fees during 2011-12 W

i realize the naivety of just settling with what we got, but you must understand the culture of the circuit. if you got on the bad side of management your job would turn into a break even career very fast. downs can be squeezed very easily.

your name mysteriously comes up when they need people to leave early. you could be put on the worst shifts. you could be barred from events in the future. this happen regularly and when you are 1k plus in the hole before a tournament series begins, it is very important to get your downs. being sent home early everyday would make a barely profitable tourney become a wash very quickly.

i was in very tight with the management, this is why i even got to floor an event. i realized the further i got, that the people i thought were protecting me had no clue to what was really going on. i always got my downs, but felt horrible for the people who always got screwed because they spoke up about something.

it's amazing how naive people are in thinking that jimmy MUST be figuring it up correctly

if he had nothing to worry about WHY WOULDN'T HE JUST PRINT OUT HOW THE FIGURE WAS MADE?

I never said it was a big deal to ask for a receipt. The posts on here are saying its a big deal but that hasn't been reflected at the table by requests for one. As far as spreadsheets go, no one can sit and read it and trust and believe it from this forum. But when you work an event and keep up with the numbers of entrants and downs the is easy to follow. As far as asking questions while on the circuit, really can get you in trouble because you know you have to keep the job so you really don't want to challenge things.

The rincon schedules are posted. The buyins have jumped by $10-20, but there is no staff appreciation.

You get your full stack at the table and the receipt indicates the full price paid.

The $50 voucher system is still in place.

It looks like $200s are now 194+51 or $245, $300s are 291+64 or $355, $500s are 485+80 or $565.

The main has increased to $1620 from $1600. $1455+165.

Overall, better for dealers and players this way although the prices will be higher in some venues than others.

Apparently trop in Vegas has adopted this practice. The advertising says $230 yet when you get there, you need to pay $10 more to complete your stack.

Someone sent me a Twitter message that they only brought the advertised 230 to trop, and started at s disadvantage because they didn't bring the extra $10.

The staff fee and $50 vouchers continued at wsopc rincon, but was charged at registration with a separate receipt.

Playing in Iowa wsopc now, no staff fees, no vouchers.

Re: From 2p2 Podcast, WSOPc middle man PTC collected ~1mm in undocumented fees during 2011-12 W

Not at all surprised by this after the debacle last year at Rincon and Jimmy's lack of a response to direct questions:

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/65...34/index5.html

Recap: They took 9 x $1000 out of each tournament and distributed them as non refundable vouchers to the satellite to the 10K regional tournament. The tournament staff directed people to various people on the floor to sell the voucher at a loss, I got $600 of the $1K. The structure sheets did not say this would come out of the prize pool, if they did I would have likely stayed in LA because that sort of rake cannot be beaten. They also tried to do this in non NLH events, but decided not too shortly before the events, yet when asked why they would not make an exception for the NLH events they said it was against gaming regulations, so which is it? They also cashed the vouchers for previous events, however for the event I played they would not budge. On this page I asked Jimmy direct questions:

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/65...34/index8.html

Yet, he did not respond at all. How he and his staff could think that pulling 9K out of these prize pools for seats that many people cannot use was just laughable.
