Sooooo many sweeping generalizations from this kid (vodka) that just aren't true. He has it completely backwards - life is 100% where you are at and NOT where you are going. Anyways, not gonna derail. These podcasts are one of the best things on 2+2, keep up the good work Joey

I stand by what I am saying. I was referring to this blog post I made a long time ago, if you want to read the whole thing. Saying where you are in life will make you happy implies that all rich people are happy (obviously untrue).

I won't derail the thread into the happiness theory thread (PM me to talk further if you want this), but I'm interested in other stuff I said that people disagree

Absolutely love the podcasts Joey! Losing rec/reg low stakes PLO Player long time lurker. Have watched every minute of every episode and have no criticisms. Keep doing what your doing! It's great for those of us that love meeting the players behind the sn's. Gives me someone to rail while losing those manies....

@yrmom - "Power of Now" changed my life many many years ago...Have read pretty much everything he has written. Enjoy/Live in every moment because that is all there ever is or ever will be. However, easier said than done. Strongly recommend Choppra - "Book of Secrets" and "Happiness Prescription."

I'm going to be streaming live one of my Poker Life podcasts today starting sometime in 2-3 hours (between 1/2pm est)

Guest is going to be Ryan LaPlante aka Protential. He is a mtter (1 FT this wsop), very active 2p2er, has a pretty good pg&c thread here http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...hread-1123554/ and is openly gay.

He seems like a pretty entertaining guy from twitter so hopefully we will have a fun discussion for you guys to enjoy

From what I know about you now, you two will have no problem discussing this topic together for hours and hours

I'm really curious if you feel like the plo pods have had any kind of effect on your ability assuming when you started listening you were a losing rec/reg low stakes player. While I don't think there is a bunch of plo hand specific strat (ie fold more here/3bet more here), I do think hearing some of the better players talk about the game might be able to have a decentish impact on some guys at that level but I'm not sure how true that is overall. I've gotten a ton of messages from mid/high stakes guys who say that they are incredibly motivating to them in terms of wanting to grind more and trying to become more successful (probably not what I want to hear lol )

No it does not unless money = unconditional happiness which I doubt many people believe. If you have achieved (some of) your goals and are "living your dream" (sounds cheesy but I don't know how else to put it) instead of dreaming, where you are in life can definitely make you happy. Of course working towards the life you want (where you are going) can make you happy too. Nice postcast, you seem like a cool guy

Hey Joe, love the podcasts. As someone who had played NLHE for 7 years, I was completely burned out and felt I had lost my love for poker. Your podcast has piqued my interest in PLO and now I feel like I'm falling in love for the first time all over again <3.

Some suggestions for things I'd like to hear you discuss with more of your guests:
1) What was your life like before poker / how has it changed your life?
2) What are your post-poker plans?
3) What kinds of things do you do to improve your game (general obv)
4) What sets you apart from your competition?

Looking forward to more!

Actually, for me....no. Because in your podcasts, your heroes often mention "Well Ive got four cards so it's best to use my right-most button" So that's what I do! Super fun....but expensive! Lol.

But seriously, I just like to live vicariously through your casts! I have a great job, 0 BRM and just enjoy the game. I have no aspirations of playing for a living, unless I bink a good one...ONE TIME!

I do work on my game, and believe I am a bit of a threat at my stakes....but never seem to make that next step. I accept that, and will continue to deposit, run it up and bust!

Thanks for the response, Rec's/fish like me really appreciate the time you take for the PLO/Poker/2p2 community

Peace and Love

I dont think what vodka haze was saying disagrees with that. He was talking about always having a goal or a target to always be shooting for. Like the saying "if you didnt wake up with a goal, go back to bed".

just listened to both the WGC eps and one HS PLO one ( or w/e u call it). I kinda am trying to force myself to enjoy podcasts because in the past I just struggle to not be annoyed by the hosts, but I gotta say your good and seem to have a knack for it, so good on you.

But with that said a couple things, I havent read this thread at all so sry if im repeating things for the millionth time. The HS plo stuff is super interesting, but its hard as hell to follow along with u, u rush thru things too fast, and although your thoughts on the hand are more valuable and interesting then the specifics to the hands themselves, It would still be helpful to have this information. Slowing down just a tad and stating clearer what soso has and what the board runout is etc would be helpful.

The WGC EP 1 was soooooo good, you asked perfect questions, and the subject matter was mostly poker, it was great & super interesting. Ep 2 tho was meh for me personally. I guess it's possible a high % of your audience enjoys hearing about the dating exploits etc of a couple online poker players, so if thats true I get it. But I personally just think your success with this podcast will be sticking to mostly poker related things. Like the WGC 1 ep you mixed in just perfect amount of non poker things just to keep it lighthearted etc.

Anyways going to listen to the rest of ur eps probably and look forward to the ones in the future.

thanks for the feedback, i'm glad mine don't annoy you that much

I'm going to assume you are watching the first episodes of the PLOs. I think over time I've been able to do a better job of slowing way down when going over hands. I tried to do that over the first couple but I'm sure I could have went much slower and made it a bit more clear. I was focusing on people who already had familiarity with PLO but over time i wanted people who didn't understand PLO that much to be able to try to get what is going on.

The first 2 WCG was so long ago (he is going to be in chicago this week so I think EP 3 is finally coming) I would have to go back and listen to those two again to find the difference in #1 and #2. Dating and women is a more common theme I've been talking about more and I've had a couple women on that I talked about it with as well. I'm going to go back and try to see if I can figure out how the first and second were different in terms the subjects I was talking about with him. I think If i just talked poker on each episode I would end up hearing the same things over/over again and personally get pretty bored with it so I try to talk about more life outside poker as well.

Am going live in about an hour for a new HSPLO podcast with longtime 2p2er dankness3 if anyone is bored this afternoon/evening

Enjoy the podcasts, especially with guys like WCG since he is both funny and good at poker, so win'/win, but you are definitely doing things that are awful like:

1) Talking about stories that you can't tell on the air.

2) Talkign about things that are interesting to you, but not necessarily interesting to readers. This includes stories that the guest is willing to tell but are simply boring.

3) Lack of engaging conversation. You don't talk about things like emotional states, what really motivates a guy to sit on his ass and learn poker when clearly money is a secondary motivation, why so many people fail at poker, what are some psychological effects of playing poker for a living. The story I get from you is a nerdy guy who desperately wants to be something else, so you steer the conversation toward hey bro this one time I got laid at a concert, check out my biceps. Really?

4) You seem to have zero consideration for the viewer. You are sitting there in a wife beater, the other guy has a light source behind him so I literally can't see ****, and the conversation borders on asinine.
