I have no strength to quit poker unless I start losing consistently, or earn enough money to retire ($25K extra in my case), or maybe bink such a large liferoll that trading it would start giving me a bigger return than poker on the effort investment - everything else requires close interaction with people (I mean, not just through bets)

Joey's statement on affiliate marketing is dead-on. I've been doing affiliate marketing for 12 years now as my only source of income. Super easy to get into and all it takes is finding an edge with a platform/offer/niche. Platforms and advertisers are more strict nowadays but like I said, find an edge. All I do is blackhat affiliate marketing in order to turn a typical 20-30% ROI campaign into a 500+% campaign. But even if blackhat tactics aren't for you, spending a couple grand testing campaigns could lead you to that home-run campaign (or you could strike out). The money is there though, just need to learn the biz and think outside-the-box with how to deploy campaigns.

It seems like so many longtime poker players and industry workers are down on the game for a bunch of different reasons. I've shifted my perspective on the industry recently.

The pessimism is justified but doesn't imply that we can't enjoy the fun while it still lasts. That will likely involve giving up on CGs and switching to donkaments or spinmaxaments, though.

100% justified

I was feeling the same until I shifted my framing of things. Now my view is that there are still some great things happening in poker to promote cash game wise. Live At The Bike, a lot of the Poker After Dark lineups, some fun online action still but limited, anything I might choose to do myself cash game related, RIO poker sometime soon. There are bad things going on in the industry right now but I personally have a choice to focus/think about the negative or on the positive. The negative has been driving me crazy most of the year so I'm shifting over to the positive.

If no one draws attention to the fun/great/memorable moments taking place in the industry anymore then people will only care about MTTs (I think that is decreasing by the day in general), streamers, Vloggers etc.

With how the media is currently set up and with how little influencers in the game promote the game itself, the people who are putting themselves out there are becoming the new stars of the game in their own way.

My goal right now is to stay consistent w/ continued content for a few weeks and figure out the specifics of what I want it to be.

I know the formats that work the best now on YouTube if best is defined as what people will watch for views. I think my biggest challenge is that I want to do all sorts of different type of content that I don't really stay consistent with one type of it. You have PLO strat/hand, NL hand, I could do vlogs which I've been thinking about working on, podcasts, investigation videos, news-style videos, singular topics that I think are important, real poker talk related, live streams, collab videos and so on. Every time I try to convince myself to stick to one or two of them, I get really excited about other ideas lol.

I've also been putting more creative energy into Twitter and IG for most of this year and I'm still planning to put some focus on them which cuts into the focus on YT.

Hey man just wanted to say thanks for what you do for the community. Your work ethic is next to none. As someone suffering from depression and anxiety I don't get out much and your videos help brighten up my days, weeks. I don't know if you get any messages like this often but I believe there are many people like me who just find it hard to communicate and interact with others, especially such a large personality such as your own. You truly do make a difference to peoples lives and thank you for that. I'm not sure why I even wrote this i guess just to let you know there are people who you probably couldn't imagine who's lives you affect. I think that's something really special and you can take great pride in. Thanks a lot buddy and keep up the amazing work
