Why even play this event at the RIO? Why not just grab a table at the Aria and play it out there? You could have tableside meals and a more comfortable environment. OK, so maybe when the late registering GTO robots show up to capture their theoretical ICM edge after one guy busts out, you may have a dozen or so runners. But still, this bracelet will mean less than the one Doyle won in 1976 when he outlasted 22 runners to win the Main Event. Come on! LOL.

Same boring people with less than 5% of their action, mostly staked by Paul Phua.

Maybe because the "WSOP" brand is owned by Caesar's ;-)

"Cards go in the air at 3 p.m. PT and Day 1 will play 10 one-hour levels with a 15-minute break after every three. Players will start with 1,500,000 chips, with blinds starting at 2,000/4,000/4,000. Late registration is available until the start of Day 2 when blinds will be 15,000/30,000/30,000." Source: pokernews

The starting stack is simply too big (375 BB).

A person can late reg tomorrow with 50 BB.

I don't think I can bomb the river here.
Not for $250,000, I can't.

The high reg circuit is a bit played out, but this is closer in spirit to what the WSOP was in the early years: a prohibitively expensive small field populated mainly by the best players in the world. It's interesting counter-programming alongside an $800 deep stack event. Really shows the two extremes of the WSOP.

22 entries now and late reg is open to start tomorrow.

And who that has the edge? No clue. But some of the guys do and some sure don't and it's going to be real ****ing hard to know who is in what category

Also edges probably shift as stacks do. I'd guess Trueteller has an edge on the field 100bb+ deep but is -EV when it gets under 50bb. Random guess of mine.

Well, the two crypto rich unknowns already got destroyed (Lilac eliminated),(Kincaid on fumes). And just like that there's the edge of 500k free money to now be split amongst the elite field. Negreanu also dead money but for some reason I was dumb enough to buy some of his action on pocket fives so I'm hoping for the best. Would be extremely interesting if Phil Hellmuth drops in tomorrow, as he is very close to player of year.

My guess is no. Phil realizes his act doesn't work around pros.

It's possible Phil gets a crypto multi-millionaire to bankroll him, and Phil's on a free roll.

Phil’s played the $1m One Drop so it’s not out if the realm that he’ll fire this. I’m not sure what tournaments are left so he might think he’d win more points elsewhere, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him late reg this one. I hope he does.

As for who has an edge I think it’s fair to say Adammo is prob a good bet. Especially if you look at his past month or so. Insane heater.

Interested to see what the field is like in the $100k - had 99 in 2019. Reckon we're over/under that?

Noticed that Fedor was selling action for both the $100k and $50k on P5s at 1.04/1.06 MU - would have thought he has a bigger edge than that over the field in the $50k at least? Dnegs and Deeb also both selling action in the $100k at 0MU

Well under, my guess is 71.

I think the Rio/WSOP has cleaned out most people's bankroll by now.

Vogelsang probably has an edge on the field imo.

2019 both the $50k and $100k were at the end of the series too - travel restrictions/vaccine mandate maybe has an impact but I don't see it being so far under. Maybe 80-85

It was several years ago and I am not bothered to google it, but I think Phil was MCing an event for casino high rollers where the prize was a seat into the One Drop. Whoever won it gave Phil the seat (presumably with some sort of a deal), so Phil could well have been freerolling it completely

Saying that, it would not surprise me if he entered into this for POY points

I think Phil would be more likely to reg the 100k high roller.

TT was arguably the best cap player in the world for a long time

Fair point. I'm just thinking that the ICM and ante would mess enough with his old skills that he can't overcome the amount of study the rest of the field has in this structure compared to him.
