This subject most times stymied by the masses in our shady industry but i think it is more prevalent then if we were construction workers or plumbers or arsonists.
I apologize as i cant find my thread and i think the sign in has been dumbed down a bit exclusively for a me so i like that .
Anyway does exhausting the levels of dopamine in the brain thru the gambling peak and valley cycle add to mental illness or are the people that embrace it probably already damaged?

Poker is a lot harder then the general public would ever think, it tests a person's constitution to an extreme degree, especially during the downswing phases.

Poker is not fair to the perpetually unfortunate, how many times do you hear cliches like 'there is no deserved in poker' etc, poker for sure can be incredibly tough mentally.

If you tell say a plumber that he could do a job for a week or a month or a year and even if he does it perfect it is possible that he could not make anything or even lose given the right or on this case the wrong outcome of variance. The plumber would tell you to F off.

Poker is tough.

i have equal respect for a guy like a construction worker as i do for a shoe ,maker or a poker player because we all need to crack the nut if you vacuum the floors or if your a 25/50 player.The real point is cashing in the dopamine daily like that of a armed robber same peak and valley brain waveas a poker player where if your a house painter your mind is more leveled out.

i dont know exactly how armed robbers think having not been and not currently being one myself, however.. I would surmise that armed robbers don't do what they do for the fix or dopamine rush its more of a need in their mind at that point. thought process goes something like this " i need some stuff ill go steal it" as opposed to "im bored ill go rob somebody". I do remember the bread loaf shoplifting game when i was a kid but i dont think thats what ur talking about. Whoever steals a loaf of bread and smashes it the least wins but that's different, also bad obv.

LOL all the construction workers I know are total degens except my uncle, all the ones I've worked or partied with either have the worst weed problem I've ever seen or are borderline to full blown alchies/dope/crack fiends.

The point is how do some come out smelling like a rose and others unravel at the seams inside this realm mentally.
In my opinion, the lone wolf pro poker life was mostly about action the dopamine,I'm not getting the chemical surge in the brain from nailing two two by fours.I need the action primarily its a prescription like a jimmy the Greek says......#1 best day in your life is winning at gambling #2 best day is losing at gambling.
