Dr Meh.

BINGO, you summed it up nicely. If FC doesn't renew with Caesars I'll just go the wyndham card route myself

I get comped room offers and discounted room rates but I’m sure if I gambled more, I would get better comps.

I literally only play at WSOP every year and nothing else Caesars related. I was able to book my room at Paris for a week for $200 total, after taxes and everything. Could have stayed the week at Flamingo for $50 but wanted a nicer hotel and closer to WSOP. I’m continuing to check every day for lower rates (they change frequently) and hope to get the week for closer to $150. Oh and I get free suite upgrades at check-in time if any are available.

All because I got a new credit card.
This is incredibly helpful! Thank you for sharing. I would love to get the Caesars diamond status but it looks like only the Business tier of that card gets you Diamond. There’s a Plus tier of the card that will get you Platinum status but I don’t think that gets you the good room rates at Paris or the ability to jump the cash game lines. (Is that correct?) To get the Business tier of the card, and the Diamond status, do you have to actually own a business, or can just anyone get the card? Thanks again for telling us about this card!

I think Platinum gets some discounts on room rates but Diamond is better. And yes, the line jumping and exclusive lines are for Diamond and above.

You have to own a business to get it. I had just started an LLC right around the time I found out about the card so it worked out well for me. It doesn’t have to be a large business or anything. A simple startup will do.

room rates aren't impacted by card status.
you can't jump lines with platinum.

Pretty sure they are. If I try to book a room without logging in to my rewards thing, the rates are fairly higher than when I log in.

As an aside, I just cancelled me week at Paris for $200 in favor of the now $160 total for the week. It pays to keep checking!

Spends 15 hours a week refreshing website to rathole $40.

They use ADT (Average daily theoretical loss) to determine comps, which is basically how many hours of each game type x casino edge (or rake paid in poker) x average bet (if table games or slots, etc.)

That gets them how much you are worth to them on a daily basis, and that determines comps and room rates.

When did you get this Wyndham Card? Was it awhile ago? It seems they may have closed a loophole recently. There's some new language now that you must have "earned Tier Status" (i.e. 40 nights at a Wyndham property) to Status Match at Caesars. Not sure if accurate or not. Trying to find out.

From website:

"You must have earned Tier Status with your current loyalty program in order for your status to be matched. Caesars Rewards will not grant status to WR members who came into the WR program from a tier match promotion with other programs or who previously had recent Caesars Rewards status that was about to expire".

Customer service lady at Wyndham said policy changed. Still trying to find out if true.

I think the card counts as "earning Wyndham", you just can't take some other status, match to Wyndham, then use that to match Caesars. I have the Wyndham Business card which gives me Wyndham Diamond, which I just successfully matched to Caesars Diamond two weeks ago.

I’m sure you’re right under most circumstances, but Dr. Meh said he goes to WSOP once a year and makes no other Caesars properties plays, yet he got his room for $200 for the week, and now $160. That doesn’t seem like it would necessarily be based on the calculation you mentioned. (Not disagreeing with you at all. Just saying maybe this hack can get you excellent comps even without the normal required play.)

For comparison sake, I’m checking into Paris on 6/21 and staying for eight nights, and I’m paying $1700. If getting the WR gets me to Diamond status and I can save something like $1500 on hotel, that’s obviously well worth the $95 annual fee. Then again, just being able to jump the cash lines for the week would be worth the $100. The waits for cash games during WSOP have been in the hours for the past few years if you get there any time after like noon.

I did some digging online and it looks like you can pretty much fake your way into the business card even if you don’t actually own a business. For those interested, this article walks you though how to apply even if you don’t own a business, and it claims you don’t have to lie or break any rules:

https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/c...thout-business

I’m going to apply in the next couple of days and I’ll post here how it goes.

I haven't played Caesars for a long time and just logged in and see 8 nights at Paris like you said on those dates overnight on 2 Fridays with 2 Queens $1402 after resort and taxes.

At Harrahs with 1 Queen $1068.

But it's not your status that changes it just your player history.
They code you at different levels.

I have diamond elite and my friend has gold. We have the same exact room rates.a friend has just regular diamond and has cheaper/comped rooms than me despite my status.

Hmm. Seems odd because I only go once a year but I’m pleased with whatever algorithm they use.

15 hours a week? If you think the internet is that slow, you must still be using dial up. Or some archaic Morse code internet type thing.

Literally takes me about 3 seconds to check.

I got mine a year ago and just matched again a couple weeks ago.

Are you sure you’re looking up the Wyndham Business Earner card? Or just the Wyndham Earner card? It needs to be the business one.

I know they closed some loopholes with Founders Card and maybe regular Earners but the Business Earners is still good to go.

With Wyndham, you have to match your status to Caesars every year. Before I matched this year, I was Gold status and wasn’t getting the rates I’m getting now that I matched to Diamond.

I’m not saying you’re wrong about ADT but I definitely think the status you have makes a difference. Maybe not a huge one but a difference.

I just rebooked at $1,600 all in. Couldn’t get the $1400 you did, but you saved me $100. I guess it pays to check back from time to time. Thanks for doing that!

Dr. Meh, are you playing anything besides poker at Caesars properties during WSOP that would boost your ADT?

Not really. I don’t understand craps and find BJ boring. Don’t play roulette, either. Once I bust out of a tournament, I’ll sometimes put $20 in a machine but that’s about it. I played in a cash game one night last year for a few hours but that’s it.

If you email GG and ask for a one time increased deposit limit then they will ask you a few questions and for some bank statements and quite likely let you do a one off bigger deposit if you can prove that you can afford it. I've done that a few times and it is mainly just box ticking for the regulators IMO. Otherwise I might stick to the live sats in Vegas. GL

Dr Meh, Black Aces and I seem to have similar play styles and acquired Diamond status thru non play methods (FC for me) - My hotel Comp nights are definitely impacted by the Diamond status BUT BUT BUT they vary like mad on when you are looking at the Web site OR even when You call the Horseshoe direct. I have had EXCELLENT success booking online then Tweaking those rates by calling the Shoe direct. Black Aces got a killer deal at Paris and you've seen Dr Meh's posts. Others like Riverph7 who is willing to move around basically stays for free for extended periods of time.

Right now PERSONALLY If I was booking a room I can get More Comped nights at Paris and a lower total bill than I can at the Horseshoe which makes zero sense (All are a LOT higher than I am currently paying anyway).

NONE of us absolutely understand the exact "why's" of the deals we get or why they seem to change so much from one day to the next we just play the game the Caesars is dealing. PERSISTENCE and continuing to check seems to be the winning formula for Room deals is the best advice anyone can really give.

Totally agree. And my rates for Paris are fairly lower than Horseshoe at the moment which is strange since last year, HS rates were lower than Paris.

As an aside, this will be my first time staying at Paris for WSOP. At HS last year, the elevator was right at the entrance to WSOP which made life easy. I went to the Paris side a couple times but is it much more inconvenient staying there than at HS for WSOP purposes? I’m wondering if the demand for HS is higher now for WSOP just for ease of access purposes. But it’s not like Paris is difficult or far to get to so I don’t know if an extra 2-3 minute walk influences people to go HS instead or not.

rates fluctuate a lot.

i've had times Caesars is cheaper than all of the other properties even though it's usually the most expensive.
