As an aside, this will be my first time staying at Paris for WSOP. At HS last year, the elevator was right at the entrance to WSOP which made life easy. I went to the Paris side a couple times but is it much more inconvenient staying there than at HS for WSOP purposes? I’m wondering if the demand for HS is higher now for WSOP just for ease of access purposes. But it’s not like Paris is difficult or far to get to so I don’t know if an extra 2-3 minute walk influences people to go HS instead or not.
Last Year it seemed I played events more on the Paris side than the Shoe side while I was staying at the Horseshoe. Now that the Jubilee Tower at Horseshoe has become the Versailles Tower at Paris it's even more of a crap shoot for your walk even changing. The "additional" rooms that are now Paris may have led to more deals to increase occupancy from that Casino. I just know its 90 days away now and the other Casinos are beginning to release their schedules so I get to waste a whole lot of time fitting my event schedule together to optimize my preferred play.

When thinking about convenience, you should think about more than in which venue you are likely to be playing. Horseshoe does not have anything resembling a coffee shop. (Guy Fieri's Flavortown Sports Kitchen has a limited breakfast menu.) Paris has Cafe Americano. What good is it going to do you to stay in the Shoe and play your tournament in the Shoe if you are going to cross over to Paris for breakfast and back?

ETA: Another reason to hustle for Diamond/7 Stars status: line cutting at the restaurants.

Just a quick update: Even though I don't own a business, I just successfully applied for the Wyndham Earners Business card that we've been discussing.

The card will arrive via mail in five to seven days. Annoyingly, it looks like I can't set my account up online until the physical card gets here--most cards will let you use the card online, set up your account, etc. before the physical card arrives--so I won't be able to report on how it goes linking it with my Caesars account and getting the upgrade to Diamond...or on whether that results in a better room rate at Paris during the WSOP. Once the card gets here, I'll post on how all of that goes.

Don't mean to burst your bubble but if you read the fine print on the matching (it's either getting wyndham diamond or the actual match from wyndham to caesar's), it says it takes 2-8 weeks. I wish you the best in terms of timing and maybe calling and pestering them will help you, but getting diamond 8 weeks from now and trying to book would stress me out.

You can book now and still be exempt from resort fees, valet parking, 100 free meal etc as long as it is activated before the end of your stay. You MAY miss out on some room comp nights or some reduced rates...the diamond status impact on those are unclear from multiple posts on room rates. But it still worth the effort...book it now and sort out the details later is the best approach.

Some good ideas in here. If I’m understanding you correctly, you’re saying keep the room I already have booked for $1600 for eight nights. As long as the diamond status is activated by the end of my trip, they won’t charge me the resort fees. Is that correct? Even that would be worth the annual fee, let alone the meal credit and the ability to jump the cash lines at Caesars properties.

Yes, the resort fee of $45 a day will be free. Definitely keep trying to book online regardless of your status. Pricing constantly changes. You can always rebook and then cancel the original reservation. Personally I also always call the casino direct they also might be able to find a better deal for your stay.

Yea, years ago Platinum would waive the resort fee and I was staying for a week at Bally's and they confirmed that as long as I made Platinum by the time I checked out(I was basic card) then no resort fees for the entire stay, I knew I needed X amount of hours playing poker to make it, so that gave me extra incentive to make sure to get it and not pay resort fees. lol

No resort fees for Platinum? Those were the days. You pretty much can earn Platinum by sneezing in the direction of a slot machine.

i first came to vegas in 2005 and nobody had resort fees that I ever heard of back then. Maybe around 2010 they started with them. For a year or two Caesars didn't have them at all and even ran anti resort fee ads. Then they caved and added them. For the first year or so they waived them for diamond.

A couple years ago, I'm sure I posted about it here somewhere, I had no status, no table play, no rating, nothing but playing a few dozen hours of poker, but I was still able to book online, then call the hotel, I think it was Caesars, and tell them I noticed a rate decrease online and I wanted to know if they could adjust my rates. They said cancel and rebook. I said I have a players card, is there someone I can talk to who deals with promotions, and they transferred me to someone who immediately, without any persuasion from me, said she was canceling my reservation and rebooking it at the best rate available - $10/night (plus resort fees). So whatever Diamond / 7 Star gets you, and however they usually calculate promos and discounts, as of a couple years ago there were still loopholes and manual overrides. If only I didn't always lose all my money at the WSOP, I'd actually be eager to try this again...

Chance to play a $1k tournament, min cash, and win $1m is just absolutely absurd. With two $1m bounties last year and first place being around $1m as well, the value is just incredible.

That combined with the pretty cool concept of going to the middle of the room and getting announced when you pull a chest creates a different experience for new people coming into poker other than the hoodie and sunglasses vibe.

I get how some people find the constant audio of the bounties ringing annoying on day 2, but well worth it for the positives honestly.

Also regarding the Wyndham Business card to Caesars Diamond match: if you do a little internet sleuthing, you'll see that some people have used Diamond to get free or heavily reduced cruises in recent years. Now, this could have just been the cruise industry in the post-COVID era trying to right their ships (yes, pun intended) so YMMV.

Yeah this is the first I heard and that is total BS.

I have zero interest in going to LA to play some lame circuit stop, and who wants to make a special trip to LA just to play what amounts to a comped $1500 tournament with a tougher than average field.

Just the cost of going to and staying in LA eats up the value of the free roll. I might as well stay in S Florida and enter a $1500 tournament with a softer field with all the money I would have wasted going to LA.

Isn’t the ToC a fairly recent addition (last five years or so)? I wonder if this is their way of gradually fading it out. Makes me think they wanted to just cut it completely this year but after people kept asking, they cobbled this together.

Yeah I figured something was up with it when it wasn't on the schedule with the rest of the WSOP.

Whether it's that or the commerce paying them off somehow for the promotion, it stinks for anyone that doesn't live in SoCal.

I was looking forward to flying to Vegas for a week or two of WSOP tournaments at the same time as the ToC. The freeroll justified the overhead. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was thinking this way.

Now needing an extra flight, rental car, room, etc. I'm questioning whether it's worth going to either the ToC or the WSOP this year. I might be better off staying in Florida and playing here while most of the pros are gone playing in Vegas.
