Yeah I mean there are what, 350 million chips in play or thereabouts? So, having a million at this point doesn't really mean that much other than you're not out of the tournament.

This is something that can be helped a great deal with better storytelling and reporting as the tournament gets deeper.

9th place right now Jared Bleznick. Will he have the distinction of being the first player ever barred for life from the Rio and in the same WSOP win the main event?

I've decided I'm going to actually try to do something and give an example on the storytelling/reporting on the players still left.

When the tournament gets deeper I will do a stream for all of it

Yeah as much as I didn't care about the story time segments that highlighted amateurs on the ESPN broadcasts, they really are probably what's best for the game. People like the underdog. Fewer segments on the MTT crushers and more time to the average joes.

It's funny how poker has changed my perception on competitions. I never root for the underdog in sports because in poker, the underdog is the guy that hasn't put nearly as many hours and as much work into the game. Why would I root for the guy that doesn't "deserve" it?

So yeah, as a hardcore fan, I don't care so much about the personal storylines of amateurs. The general public, however, probably would be dying for more stories about the plumber that has been saving $1k a year for the past decade just to take a shot at this and ends up going deep.

And for the love of God, please stop showing the final table on a 30 minute delay. Put the delayed ********** online for the hardcore players, and show an edited for TV version on ESPN a few days later. It was way better when they did it that way pre-black Friday.

Exactly this.
November 9 needs to be scraped. Such a unnecessary delay

I always thought the november 9 took away the mental grind of playing for a week straight which was a huge part of the ME grind.

surefire sign someone is like 22 yrs old: he calls others "kids" on the internet

dude literally had some creep sitting there watching him playing 24/7 during the last wsop. probably just his yoga instructor that wanted to keep him in line.

but lol @ 2+2 trying to rationalize his weird behaviour just because hes some "young" internet player unlike when negreanu advertises his own weird ass cult

I, too, would love to see a couple of well-known pros final table (this means you, Maria and Fossilman), and am rooting for Gobbo to have a big score.

Was this the first time in history that the two WSOP ME chip leaders were women?

Melanie Weismer $2,470,000

Bad read, I'm 62.

Only in someone's provincial little world would practicing yoga, meditation, and healthy eating be categorized as 'weird behavior', and emotional support from the rail be deemed 'creepy'.

Oh, and GO CHEWY.

Two women at the top of the chip count list in the main event. A woman or two at the final table would be great for bringing new players and promoting the game. Gogogo Maria and Melanie!!!

We all learned the hard way never to get our hopes up for that again... even when there are 2 women left in the final 11 players...........

The FTs that were played after a week of exhausting play were also way better. Now everyone gets coaching and has GTO ranges and ICM knowledge, it's just a bit boring and predictable. Back then, the bad players just kept playing their style, and even the good players were tired and felt like gambling -- it just seemed to have a lot more fun action.

Of course, this was LOL mid 2000's NLH where no one knew what they were doing, but everyone is just too polished by November.

Gaelle Baumann sitting alright in 75th atm too.

Wow, what if Gaelle Baumann pulled a Newhouse and went out in 10th again this year?*

She might replace Matt Affleck as the greatest sob story in recent years. Actually I think his would still be worse, but still.

Would be pretty sick.

*For the trolling nitpickers out there, I am aware Newhouse got 9th in consecutive years and that if Baumann get's 10th this year, it wouldn't be in consecutive years. Still close enough to call it pulling a Newhouse imo.
