Beckly started out 7h in chips going in to the final table and pretty much tied with Cannuli for last place entering the final 6 and ended up finishing 2nd.

So his 'weak' play did help him ladder up all the way to 2nd. Assuming that was his intention he couldn't have done it any better than he did.

Beckley's play looked just awful from what I could see of the final table and those AQ hands before the final table.

Stern appeared to make mistakes before the final table, but played the final table pretty well.

In general, none of them were total donks, but the it must be the weakest final table in at least 5 years.

3 - the show was also boring because everyone else at the table decided to play for 2nd place. the money mattered most to all the players. (rightfully so..)

4 - yes it was crazy to watch someone go on a crazy heater, i'm looking forward to someone figuring out how many standard deviations from norm that run of cards was (I doubt we'll see a run this good at the final table again while i'm alive) . and I can see that alot of folks here are having a hard time being happy for someone who basically ran like a god. (Its not just crazy that he caught AA, KK, QQ, and AK, AQ so often, and that his AK connected with the board almost every time, but his opponents also caught reasonable hands those times).

if you are tilted by joe, think about what that is saying about you.

I think he's a nice kid, but man, did he play bad and lacked any kind of decent fundamentals. It surprises me diphtrong is so offensive about it. pbb being blind because he coached him (only for a week tho?)

beckley didn't get in much (difficult) spots at all at the ft, and the spots he had, he played pretty poorly in general.

It's ok. Kid has more money now than 99% of the poker world will pbb have (myself included, before haters start using that silly argument) and can maybe actually become good at poker. It's just silly to think he even played remotely close to solid/good

Also have to say I really liked the way Beckley composed himself through the ft, he didn't show much/any nerves at all, and afaik didn't give away any live tells. So props for his demeanour.
^^ beckley was only composed because he was always playing for that pay jump, its easy to relax when you are waiting on ONLY PLAYING AA,KK, I would have bet money he folds Qs to any player capabile of knocking him out/down to last few chips in hand.
Got to give props to stern even after I blasted him for some bad plays leading upto the F.T. (but he killed my fellow countryman with 108s v Qs) atleast he tried to go get some chips & also a big well done to blumenfield for reaching 3rd, his inexperience may have let him down but nearly 4mil is a good time to bow out, also now he will be more willing to play the POKERSSSSS!!!. So some free money outthere for the pro's lol.
Its just a pity for the viewers that the money was so harsh in the lower payout spots, imo if the prizes were better distributed I think we would have seen a better(or even) A BATTLE.
TBH If I was at the F.T with the way these top spots paid I would have done the same until 3-4handed. And I think most would have too.

CONGRATS Mr Joe McKeehen WSOP 2015 MAIN EVENT CHAMPION.

Cannuli's a legend in the NJ online world, grinding all day all night, and playing anyone who will give him action at the highest stakes. He's like the Isildur of NJ. The kid's got a ton of heart and a great attitude. Would've loved to seen him take it down or at least go a little further than he did. Really sick for him to go out like that.

Lol press conference for poker players...

Hey youngsters in charge of marketing/operations @ the WSOP....you are trying waaaay tooo hard..

Poker is NOT a sport...it is a card game....contrary to what the soccer playing population of he world seem to think, poker is just a card game...

Also, please stop trying to portray the poker community as more relevant than it actually is by setting up press conferences . The money is better spent on aggresively getting rid of the ****birds ruining the game with their scams and theivery.

Also also..live stream is bs...one person to a hand...you internet nerds that luckboxed a job having anything at all to do with live poker need to get back in your basements and keep your questionable ideas ("everyone has equal access"..blahblah) to online poker...where the shadiness is accepted/condoned

I've read as much as I could of the usual comments about how lucky the winner was and how badly everyone played. Surprised no one seems to have commented on similarities between McKeehen interviews and Belichick press conferences. The nerve of people just winning and not giving gushy answers about how they love everybody and thanking God for their victories! If only a guy in a suit had won, we'd have a new poker boom lol, but my favorites are the posters complaining that the chants from the rail weren't as good this year. Go back to watching pro wrestling.

I suspect that much of the public viewing this final table could barely sit through 15 minutes of watching emotionless people tank for a minute or more preflop then throw their hands away.

Say what you will about Joe's clothes, but at least they were comfortable. On the other hand, Steinberg's custom suit was too tight, and poorly fitted. No way was it comfortable.

Let's be real - authenticity is important. Joe showed up in comfortable clothes, focused on playing poker.

I agree with most of this (lol people complaining about the lack of chanting), but this is a poker forum, do you really not want people to discuss the play (and how bad it was) of the wsop main event final table?

Well poker needs to make yards with the older generation so the fact that their sons live at home may spur them to play poker too.

You read all the posts after the fact? I'm impressed. Not saying I wouldn't do the same if I were in your shoes.

Pretty much anyone who does staking regularly will tell you this is extremely predatory to less informed investors.

Beckley is probably a nice guy as the reports say and I know it's a tough climate out there for poker sponsorships, but joining a company who also counts Jamie Gold as their lead pro comes off a bit clueless if not irresponsible.
I think you're wrong here on the 5%. It says players are free and I know people who have used it and they didn't get charged anything. Basically lets you sell pieces to people you wouldn't normally, and the backers pay small premium for access.

I don't see a problem there at all?
