I like Einhorn's chances after getting third last time, think he's a decent outside bet. Robl must be one of the favourites too I'd imagine.

I can't imagine why. Maybe because he's due?!? He's only won 1 tournament ever, and there were only 22 entrants.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had a significant piece of each other in each and every high-roller tourney...in essence similar to sharing a bankroll, albeit a very large one. This way they could always enter these big buy-ins, as long as one or more of them finish in the top 3, which seems to happen quite frequently. They are all very capable players, some of the best around right now, and this would significantly reduce their variance.

He seems more like an exclusively cash player, other than some big buy in mtts. You'd have to say that the likes of Gruissem would be favoured over him, due to his high roller track record but I think Robl may have a better post flop edge than most in the field. TBH I don't even know what the structure is like so it's just an assumption.

I know this is completely permissible and unenforceable even if it weren't, but doesn't this just seem a little...unsavory?

Like any arrangement that seems to spread risk, it works until all the horses you backed fail to perform. It is -EV that the even five players with the same backing would reach the top three, given the depth of this field. Yes, Ole and Vanessa may be better players than some other pros, but the edge is not that great at this level.

The risk is magnified by the fact that any hint of soft playing will be scrutinized under a magnifying glass. For this reason, the well-concealed backers are ultimately likely to be billionaires for whom $5 or $10 million is a drop in the bucket.

This is going to be awesome to watch as a poker fan but do people really think this is going to began a poker boom if someone special wins? This is a million dollar tourney... This isn't your average tourney full of amateurs who qualified for 1/10 the buy in. I think this will be cool to show on ESPN but I don't anticipate it lighting any kind of Moneymaker Jr boom.

The other guy's hand has been known ?
Or still a mystery ?

EDIT : i guess it's a mystery, otherwise you would have said the other guy's holding

No, that is what i want to know.

I remember i created a poll (cant find it now) Option more voted was JJ (among KK, the straight flush and air)

The other guy said "he made a good laydown" but i guess he said it for pity, to save embarrassment

The guy made a horrible laydown, regardless of what the other guy had.

[x] Confirmed.
[x] Results don't matter.

I will not be playing this year, because its too small of a tournament for me. Perhaps if they make it a 10million dollar buyin for 2015, that might interest me! Thx for your support sir. You are a genteleman and a scholar

Is that real ?
Poker will remain a joke if big events are not covered in live.
Seriously it sucks (even though it's always a great fun watching, i do that for EPTs for example) watching the thing when you already know the results.

You can't make such a ridiculous decision, it would be the second worst after FT delayed in ME (not that's a really bad idea, and good to promote the game, and after a couple years im know used to it, but the delay is simply too long, in my world we want things to happen quickly )

I guess Bad Beat Jackpot don't apply to tournaments nor do they matter to people who buy in for a million dollars.

I've been looking for the hand but I cant find it what the hell would possess a man to fold quads

I don't how the play was up until the river, but the board was like this:

J878K

Russian professor bet out 700K, CEO guy shoves for 3,4M and has Russian covered. Russian goes into the tank for ages and folded face up. Table erupts and he later said that going by his logic the only possible hand he could have had was a straight flush.
