Let's not be so quick to pass moral judgment on me, you don't know me. And I'm not talking about a total moral situation. I'm talking about a practical one too. The amount may be too much of a burden.
Assuming the money was "stolen" as you say, do you really think that someone whose morals are low enough to steal are at the same time high enough to pay someone back?
And it doesn't matter what you or I may think about whether or not public humiliation has an effect on the debt. Pissing off the person who owes the debt is not in the best interest of the person owed (The comment on it being worth $30K was sarcasm).
