Wow, Slugant, you are a man of far better patience than me.
EasyGo, the main subject of your thread is a $1,000,000 poker challenge. Maybe it's not where
your mind went first, but it's in your title. And all but one of the replies (yours, in fact) were poker-related. Thus, it's a very fair assumption that any non-specific question in this thread most likely remained about – wait for it – the subject of the thread, i.e. a poker challenge.
Then these three posts go up, in succession:

Now there are two subjects at play: your original post, or the offer from just five years ago. The pronoun "it" most likely means
either the poker challenge or the impeachment challenge as reported in that Washington Post link you yourself shared. It's probably one of the two. Not necessarily so, sure. It IS possible that "it sounds like a great movie" was referring to post #3 in this thread, despite everything else in here. But probably. When you ask "why would you assume," well, the English language is why.
FWIW, if
the man Larry Flynt was the most plausible reference, King Fish would most likely have used "he." I know we live in an age where we no longer assume pronouns, but certainly someone of your age – since you think these young 2+2 whippersnappers can't possibly have heard of an award-winning movie – does not think of a person when seeing the pronoun "it."
