Will Gordon, Lederer, ferguson etc play?
06-03-2011 , 02:11 PM
this is long overdue but needs to be given the 'main event' title already
06-03-2011 , 02:13 PM
will the start off with 3 million chips and will the blinds start at 25/50???
06-03-2011 , 02:35 PM
They will to hire Annie Duke to twist arms and get more that 11% for charity. Guys just trying to buy a bracelet, make them give all the money up!
06-03-2011 , 02:47 PM
I am also outraged at the 110k going to charity instead of into the RIO's coffers where it rightfully belongs.

Also, how dare they schedule a $1M buy-in event at the WSOP with the current FTP fiasco ongoing? I am aware that FTP and the WSOP are not actually the same thing, but they are both poker so what's the difference, amirite?

ID rather see a cash game where everyone buys in for a million.

Wouldnt it be nice to have this "pack" sitting all on one table together?

This event is a win win for everybody. Im sorry for the dissapointed nvgers that thought guy was planning to save the world and terraform the moon.

They are probably doing the charity thing because they want to televise it and charity makes it seem less decadent. Presumably the players can list the $110K as a charitable donation on their taxes. That does seem like a big "rake" though.

I seem to recall that there was all kinds of noise about rich people being able to "buy bracelets" back when there were unlimited rebuy tournaments.

Well, guess what...

lol, came to post this exact thing.

I guess $1000 rebuys is not fair to the common folk, so we'll just make a $1M tourney.

IMO - the juice is going to provide water to the chinese Shortstacking workshops.
Thirsty work sharing accounts.

I'd like to see it done as a rebuy event.

I just won a seat at this. $2 18 seat satellite. Lovely.

Ill play if they up the buy in a little. There's only gonna be 20 or so players, with such a low buy in it wouldn't be worth my time. I wouldn't even get outta bed for less than 4 billion, anything less and you get to many micro donks.

haha 4 billion hahhaaha

But it's unfair to dish out bracelets for re-buy events.
10-27-2011 , 10:15 AM
I believe that "One Drop" is coordinated by Guy Laliberte.

They had a booth for this charity/tournament at the 2011 WSOP. There was hardly any information on this charity other than that it's for providing water. When I checked their website in July, it did not explain what they do with the donations or how they have any method to provide water to 3rd world nations. If Guy sort of owns this charity then I would imagine that they're on the up and up, but they should really disclose some sort of info as to what they do if they're going to be begging poker players for donations.

It appears that Guy was able to somewhat single handedly make a $1M buyin possible by bringing both his own action and other businessmen to the affluent pros.
