PM me if you would like to stake me in this tournament next year
06-02-2011 , 06:24 PM
Its not really interesting though becasue its just gazzilionaires swapping a bit of loose change. Pokers not a good spectacle when people with unlimited bank balances are playing.

Just how Guy planned it. After years of reading 2+2 posters making fun of him and calling him a donkey that had 10 screen names and lost tens of millions on the internet, Guy gets everyone's hopes up and kicks us all in the balls while rubbing our noses in it that he can throw away a million bucks while we suffer. Well played Guy!!!!

He's also going to ship the tourney and thus quit as a winning player.

Odds Ivey plays?

So all we need is Ray Bitar to enter, along with about 500 other people, than he takes it down.

Boom. You all get your money back.

GUY doesn't owe you anything. He has nothing to do with the current online poker situation. It is unreal he is being flamed for creating a charity tournament.

Everyone who enters is paying 110K to charity, so a lot of money will be raised for a good cause. If you want to blame someone, blame all the idiots who voted Republican in the last decade.

So much for waiting for 5:00, because this is definitely the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that is scheduled for today..... whoooooo a $1,000,000 buy in tourney, to bad the big $$ online grinders will never get a chance to build a roll to play this tourney!
06-02-2011 , 06:57 PM
Even though there are enough things to dislike, strike that, absolutely despise about this announcement, as a poker fan, I want to see this happen...particularly a live broadcast.
06-02-2011 , 07:00 PM
I find all this complaining a bit ridiculous. I think it's much better 11% goes to charity then to see a 4% rake (the amount in 50k events). The reason i think they did this is because else normal people would be outraged like you guys that people gamble for such sick amounts. When a lot goes to charity then less people will mind.

You do have to wonder though.. How high does the buy-in have to get till you can practically buy a WSOP bracelet..
06-02-2011 , 07:05 PM
Also.. why all the hate towards Guy Laliberte.. What has he ever done wrong to you? Seems pretty childish to flame him for no reason at all.

If you had $2,5B would you still spend hundreds of hours into studying and improving your game? I sure as hell wouldn't. I'd play the highest buy-in tournaments and cash games and play however the **** i want because it's all chump change.

i think a lot of the hate is from people calling it huge news, with lots of capital letters and extra u's... and its just not that

the charity part is awesome obv.. but when someone worth thousands of milllions has an idea that will generate at most a couple million... i mean is a "huge announcement" really necessary
06-02-2011 , 07:29 PM
they should make this a rebuy/add-on tourney

Phil Gordon should play in this thing, this might be the first time he can say he ever had at least 1 million chips in a tourney

and quit crying about not being able to play online anymore, you dont like it then dont watch it or go to your local casino if you miss poker that much and start contacting your local congressman/rep about regulating online poker

i dont think referring to this as a joke for a bracelet event is any worse that thousands of people trying to luckbox a 1K NLH event
06-02-2011 , 07:35 PM
i really really hope this isnt the big announcement..

no1 rly seems to care..

LOL

no. no he doesn't.

it's pretty simple - the guys who played with him on HSP thought he was the usual kind of fish - overly tight, and has the nuts whenever he bets big - and so they played him accordingly.
now that everyone knows that he's an even juicier kind of fish, it will be even easier to play against him.

"It's a little bit of an advantage, but it's going to be about the skill play," Ruffin said. "They could look at us as dead money, but we're hard to bluff."

this is a guy who really honestly thinks that being "hard to bluff" gives you an advantage. as if that isn't a professional player's most highly desired type of opponent.

gives himself a chance.....yeah maybe if everyone at the table had to play their hand face up except him. and even then i probably wouldnt bet on him.
06-02-2011 , 07:54 PM
lol im still laughing at how he left HSP being the chip leader at the table.. for shame
06-02-2011 , 08:00 PM
big marketing ploy, way to whore yourself out to stay relevant vegas.

lol. the rio takes 10% anyways and they arent for this event, so it is only slightly more rake than a typical event. if a player wants to play this event they either dont care about the charity and just want to play, or somebody who is rich enough to play this for the charity. nobody is going to not play this who otherwise would because of the rake goes to a charity instead of the rio.
