Is it possible the businessmen have the comfort advantage on the pros because most of the pros will be using their money or staked by others? Will this cause the pros to play passively in any way?

Damn overlooked that, there still wasn't a huge emphasis on it.

they aren't just "pros", they're a collection of the ultra-elite successful players who've pretty much all stood the test of time. this is the equivalent question of Would (did) Ivey et al. crumble under the pressure against playing against Andy Beal?

no

4 things:

- table draws in this must be rigged to give the whales half a shot
- hope De Wolfe pays back that angle shooting POS Renkemeir by coolering him on the bubble
- Hellmuth to nit his way to a min cash
- 3 handed prediction: Mizrachi, Ivey, Mercier

that is all

It's going to be awesome but I'm not sure if I like the charity aspect of it. The charity is to raise funds for people with no water so they make a poker tournament with a prize pool of the economy of small African state. With the winner getting $18m so people with nothing can get water. It all feels a bit cringe worthy and disgusting.

Would rather it was just a conventional tournament and the winner can donate to charity if they wish.

de wolfe was the angle-shooter who showed on card, a king (k high), and then mucked his hand before reinkemeier showed his Q high.
if de wolfe would simply have showed his hand, with both cards, he would have won, but his anlge with show one only didnt work and he mucked it.
de wolfe got powerowned for being an idiot, nothing else.
reinkemeier just showed bad etiquette AFTER the hand was over and the pot was pushed to him. he was a genius to know wolfe busted and wont show both, thats why he owned him with Q high vs his K high, that de wolfe was too ashamed to show. thats why de wolfe lost. period.

sorry fanboy, if you wanna complain again, i look for the you-tube link.

From @haralabob twitter:

True story, one of the players in the One Drop hired my cleaning lady, then haggled her with her for 3 days over 30 bucks on her fee.

Wonder who it is?

Yeah, if I recall correctly the two main guys were Howard Lederer and Ted Forrest who hadn't slept in a week or something.

You do understand that the point of the tourney is to bring awareness to the one drop foundation! This will have a much greater effect to the charity than a single 55mil donation! But I could be way off

No they are NOT losing money. For everyone who puts 1k on a fish there are 50 people who put 1k on Ivey. Like I posted before .. those are not the odds the sportsbook think the player's winning % is. It's the odds depending on how many people bet how much on each player.

If people keep betting on Ivey, his odds will become worse and the odds of all the fish will become better. If people then start betting on the fish, odds will go the other way. It DOES NOT matter how their actual winning % are .. it's all about the people's perception and how much money they are willing to put on each side.

Obv people are putting tons of money on Ivey...

This tourney is reminiscent of the WSOP Championship of the seventies. Just a relatively small field comprised mostly of the wealthiest degenerate businessmen and successful poker pros playing for an ungodly prize pool.

When you realize that the buy-in back then is on the order of an inflation-adjusted $60K today, it seems appropriate that this is a bracelet event and probably beats the Main Event for interest among poker fans.

Yeah but Jens can deduct this from his winnings so his buy-in is basically 500k.
