Why not just make it 6 places paid and even out the prizes a bit? Just looks really weird now.

It's pretty obvious. They want to keep as much money as possible in the poker community.

I guarantee Negreanu, Ivey, Seidel love that payout structure. Their eye is only on 18m.

Just stop with all the unfair payout structure talk. Do you really think the pros that are playing havent already talked about this? There`s probably already 50 different payout structures being discussed depending on who goes deep. $18M for first is more than anyone out there has made in their LIFETIME, no way the actual payouts are gonna be like that in such a small field where most players know each other. Even if 1 or 2 business men actually make it deep itm and wont deal no matter what, that still gonna be deals made, like Pro 1 and Pro 2 have similar amount of chips with 6 left and just agree to swap 30% of each other. Lots of questionable deals will be made away from the table, but there`s no way to control it, hence no need to talk about it in every2nd post. Think of the payout structure as a "recommended suggestion" of the WSOP, cause that`s all it is in such a big BI tourney with relatively few players.

In the Satellite there were some unscheduled breaks at the final table. We will see if WSOP allows this at the final table of OneDrop as well? I dont think so!

I assumed that the reason they're paying more spots than they would usually is all down to the buy in. It's not like there's one of these every week and a million dollars is a ****load of money to put up for one tourney. I think people took that as a positive thing when deciding to enter, that they had a 1 in 6 chance of at least getting their money back.

A min cash is still 100k profit, that's more than first place in some events.

Based on the bios, it seems like a lot of these businessman have a lot of experience in tournaments, and aren't total "dead money" like a lot of people are saying. Obviously they're going to be outclassed given the pros who are in this but they're not all Phil Ruffin

Found this interesting. I also believe deals are not allowed in any WSOP event. Interesting to hear what Jack Effel has to say about this, as Gus and Shaun clearly did this.
