Worst folds of all time? - Poker News - News, Views and Gossip

So ... the pot was unraised before the flop, you hold the second nuts on the river and villain bets 8 antes for 20% pot or 10% of your stack. What's your play here? lol

I've watched way too much Poker over the last decade or so and I've seen many bad calls (Youtube opened this video right after I watched DN butcher every hand on HSP Season 2), but I can't remember ever watching a worse fold than this.

Do some of you have similar examples? I mean, I remember Phil Hellmuth folding AQo pre for something like 8 bb in a "winner takes all" sit and go, but that's about it.

When I saw you type that he folded quads and I saw the flop, I anticipated this going 3 or 4 ways, none of which happened given the hands. Think in a cash game setting this would be one of but not the worst folds I have seen, in tournament I think it's bad but not epically bad.

If the player shoving has the best case semi bluff such as AK and AQ with the Ah they still have around 36% equity with flush and broad way outs.

It was short deck, not regular holdem. That greatly increases the chances of being against an Ace here. I agree, not a good fold, but not the worst ever. One of the worst ever was the guy who folded KK to me preflop in day 2a of the 2009 WSOP Main Event. most players are bad at poker, and most bad players underbluff heavily, therefore worst folds are rarely as bad as worst calls. Plus, bad players also overcall, so you won't too many fold done by them.

Maria's fold above is veeery nitty, but you can actually imagine her reasoning, which makes it far off from the worst plays we've seen on tv

Juanda fold in the OP is a bit nitty, but not that bad. I was expecting the board to be double paired from the OP description, rather than having three aces out. The small sizing seemed to level Juanda into the fold.

I don't think we ever found out whether the guy who folded quads in the One Drop was right or not. That would probably be in here otherwise.

The worst fold I’ve ever seen on TV was Tommy Reed folding a turned set at the 2005 WSOP Lake Tahoe Circuit. I’m surprised no one posted it already.

I know its not sexy but one of the big secrets of being a winning cash game player is the ability to make big folds. (even if you are wrong a % of the time)
You make money when opponents call in spots where if the situation was reversed you would fold.
