Something seems strange about the new owners immediately removing the ban policy and allowing any posters, even new ones, to post freely on the forums. Not sure if its a coincidence or what not but all the conspiracy theory stuff has seemed to ramp up on these boards since they took over. Im not saying this is happening , but if you were a foreign entity and wanted to change the perception of current events paying a million dollars (or whatever it is) to have access to a forum with 10,000s of thousands? of active users seems cheap.

A conspiracy theory about conspiracy theories.

Excellent work.

Ill admit its a bad take. But id put the odds of what i mentioned at 5%. Its not out of the realm of possibility. Based on their picture alone i would have sworn this was all some sort of hoax or Nigerian prince type scam.

I hear ya and was just having fun with conspiracy stuff.

also I agree with you. I was prob ( edit...I was) the one beating the drum the loudest the purchase made very little sense from any angle I could imagine.

Probably made sense to the previous owner. Just saying.

You may not be viewing it in the right context. Let's assume that there is no secret thing that would have this all make sense in a conventional manner as you are trying to do (and I doubt there is) - you simply need to look at it from an unconventional manner.

The NFT of the old viral Youtube video of "Charlie Bit My Finger" sold for nearly a million dollars. I have helped some photographers navigate that space and helped them sell some of their works for essentially 5 figures when at a festival they would be lucky to sell it for fifty or a hundred bucks. "This makes no sense" does make sense when one considers buyers that have made an excess amount of money from crypto and have no concerns splashing it around, so the trick is creating a product that can work through the system, get it to the buyers and then be of interest to that buyer, and do it quickly, because good chance that market and those opportunities will not last forever.

Thus, when the new owners said that the first thing they wanted to do was take down banner ads and then they did it - that pretty much answered the question of why they wanted to buy the site from my perspective. It was fun for them to own. There is no way to turn a forum that has not changed in decades into the next spot for 21 year olds to visit, but it can be fun to own a piece of online poker history, so they bought it. 2+2 bit their finger. Makes sense when looked at from that angle, even if the "how does this make enough money for that price" part never quite adds up.

The new owners also have the mods sending out messages telling everyone they are horrible poster and just cyber bullying in general. It's not a good look.

I assume everyone got the same message, if you haven't gotten it, it's because your mail box was full.

Pretty sure they only tell the horrible posters. So I assume you got one?

you are the one who sent it? I don't know
it's also the second time this has happened. The mod who I won't name for whatever reason CC'd me in their crap talking convo between each other. I think they get off on trying to make other people feel bad, makes sense as they signed up to moderate online forums. The extreme power gets to their heads.

I almost didn't reply because I thought there would be no use since my post would be immediately deleted, (but I'm assuming the nazi mods are gone now?):

I stopped posting on 2+2 because they completely lost their sense of humor. The moderators were largely a group of virtue-signaling, social justice warriors who allowed their personal politics to interfere with their modding and were constitutionally incapable of being impartial.

It became no fun to be here anymore. Back in the day, I was on here day and night and this forum was my go-to site for all poker news, strategy, and all kinds of funny nonsensical chat. There were a lot of creative, intelligent people who were chased away by the nazi mods. It's a ghost town now.

I still grind poker every day but I am largely chatting on other websites that allow me to speak freely(there aren't many!). It would be great to see 2+2 get back to its roots, where there was an eclectic mix of people here.

So I would need some incentive to return. You would need to make a public announcement, that you've shown the Marxist moderators the door and they won't be allowed back in.

How long ago was “back in the day?” You have over 1,000 posts in five years. Allocating for time you haven’t been here, “back in the day” couldn’t have been too long ago, right?

Any particular mods you took issue with? Was this mostly in the politics section? The reason I ask is I tend to have more conservative leanings and haven’t had the same experience you have had but I tend to avoid the politics section and political posts, in general.

You have to go back a while to find any remotely controversial thread that Adjusted participated in. This now locked thread seems to be what triggered him:

He was right about the mutating part

problem is, if you just call people crazy and lock a thread, then there is zero chance for change, and actually achieves quite the opposite. Regardless of which side you are

Unless there are a few specific mods that were given instructions, which seems highly unlikely, none of this has happened. There has been a lot of discussion (most of it here) about changing the way things are run, but mods as a whole have been given no new instructions WRT banning or sending messages to posters.

snowie, um, any chance you've been getting messages about being a horrible poster because you have been lately? You've never been as noticeable as you have been in this thread calling the owners idiots and their wives hookers. You don't see any possible link here?

He (Adjusted) also posted the disinformation that claimed statistics showed people taking the flu vaccine are more likely to get the flu. That's 100% false, potentially dangerous, and fully deserving of removal of his post.

People have certainly left these forums, but many more over childish, confrontational, and hapless nature of some of the discussions across multiple forums. Certainly a lot more professional players used to post than do now, and they didn't choose to leave because of unhappiness over moderation, but the tone and substance of the discourse.
