Back in the day since I was on newsgroups, RGP and they got so full of spam a bunch of us migrated over to 2+2. That would be around the time Planet Poker was around, then Paradise Poker, and so on. I'm not good with dates so I just say "back in the day".

You should probably back to your disinformation bubble where the mods aren't mean to you.

Not true. You misquoted me, I said "I heard that there were statistics that showed...blah blah blah.

This is where, in the free world, you come into the thread and you explain why I'm wrong, back it up etc., I respond, and any people reading get to make an informed decision about the conversation.

Locking a thread is what low IQ people who are afraid of new ideas do.

Paradise Poker equals Paradise lost. 2005 Paradise Poker was the greatest website of all time.

Wrong again. I'm not looking for mods to be "nice". I'm looking for a forum where people can freely discuss whatever. And I'm not in a disinformation bubble. Just last night on a forum I made a statement and I was set upon and ridiculed by a bunch of people, nobody went crying to the mods, nothing was deleted, we all survived. You're the one in a ****ing bubble.

And another thing, I'm married to a Thai woman and we have kids. She never worked in a bar and was never a prostitute. You who are judging the new owners based on a picture are *******s and I think you're projecting your own perversions in a Freudian sort of way. Go **** yourselves.

A nuanced debate is very valuable. You present a backed up position, someone makes a backed up critic, you respond, and people leave the discussion better informed.

But that isn't what is happening here.

For the most part, people of your mindset spend a few seconds posting things they heard and then leave it to other people to do the heavy lifting to prove it untrue.

When proven untrue the low effort poster will usually either ignore or feign ignorance, 'oh, ok it was just something I heard.'

Generally the next step is more no effort posting of things they've heard which requires minimum 10x the effort to debunk.

It's a war of attrition that the low effort poster will eventual win. Without fairly strict moderation the platform becomes a cesspool.

In my experience 99% of the time someone claims free discussion is being stifled by SJW snowflakes/Marxists/libtards/etc it's either what I've described above or some racist/sexist bullshit that they somehow don't think is racist/sexist.

Posting medical disinformation is potentially dangerous, and a 'new idea' only in the same sense as when someone cries 'fire' in the theater when there is none.

Frankly, I think too many people here think they have more influence over other people’s lives than they actually do. If you’re taking medical advice from any rando poster here be it for vaccines or against, you’re doing it wrong.

I hope people here aren’t that easily swayed.

Of course they are. Most people are stupid as fk. Moderating misinformation is fine as its objective.

I recently saw this interesting and relevant quote.

"The difference between a conspiracy theory and a fact is about 6 months"

I'm not sure specifically which medical disinformation you were referring to as I didn't see the post, but one has to keep in mind that the 'truth' we are fed is controlled by a small number of parties who have vested interests. Anything else is labelled as "misinformation" and "dangerous".

But did you ever play on Pacific Poker in the early 2000's?

None of this 1-fish per table nonsense; if all your opponents didn't have a VPIP of 50%+ you were the fish for not moving table

Juk

Sounds dystopian and conspiratorial.

But the issue at hand was a matter of science. And since that discipline is defined as knowledge of the natural world, and includes information that has reached the state of truth owing to virtual universal agreement (such as the Earth being round and orbiting the Sun), there's room for disinformation to be foisted out there. In those cases, I fully support the discretion of the moderators here to remove such postings.

Science changes over time. There was a time when scientists believed the world was flat. There is the very real possibility that 100 years from now people will look back at our universally accepted scientific principles such as gravity and laugh at us.

In terms of medicine, there are very conflicting opinions coming from scientists - largely dependent on who is funding the studies / research!

I think two plus two possessed a data set that is worth say $500,000 right now to someone. These kids know of these markets and Mason does not. So these kids paid Mason $300,000 for the entire company, immediately sold the existing data for a profit plus a contract for future data. So they made money without a single thought to this actual website.

What that means for our future who knows

Imagine you go to a store for the first time in 2008. It’s a nice store. You go back on and off for the next few years. Nothing changes too much about the store.

Then you go back in 2021 and it’s the same exact store. Except two plus two isn’t a store it’s an internet company. An internet company that makes no changes in 15 years.

This wasn’t run as a website company this is a book publisher that stumbled upon a forum. I paid $4,000 for this website damnit I’m not about to add these newfangled social functions. I’m a business man damnit not an internet wizard. Who buys that company
