Re: Thoughts about 2021 WSOP (tentatively scheduled 09/30 - 11/23)

One time on a plane, I unfortunately had the middle seat on a 4+ hour flight to Vegas, and a 400 pound guy sat in the isle seat. I immediately freaked out and got stewardess to transfer me to another seat. That actually screwed me up for life with confined space type situations. lol

What do you mean by "what sort o percentage%%"?

The assumption is that there's going to be a WSOP in the tentatively scheduled time frame.

I guess they had to edit out the picture of the player with no mask.

MGM Resorts gets OK to fully open 9 Las Vegas casinos
"Gambling giant MGM Resorts International on Wednesday joined a growing number of Las Vegas Strip casinos with state regulatory approval to open casino floors at 100 percent capacity and no person-to-person distancing requirement.

The company said the Nevada Gaming Control Board granted its waiver for nine properties based on its workforce vaccination rate."

Masks never survive to WSOP. This is awesome.

Re: Thoughts about 2021 WSOP (tentatively scheduled 09/30 - 11/23)

I am guessing we get a schedule announcement the 1st week of June, between 1st and Friday the 4th. Or maybe toward the end of this month when they get the heads up on the Governor's plans for June 1st.

Those Orleans guarantees are so conservative, lol. Will get blown away.

Glad to see the Orleans with a number of PLO8 tournaments. Not sure if thats always been standard for the Orleans, or a sign of the game becoming more popular, but happy regardless.

He added the Orleans to the sheet now. It will be going on when Wynn and Venetian are also going for most of it, so it's hard to say how busy it will be at The Orleans. But I guess there are a ton of locals that prefer that casino.

CDC just announces - masks no longer necessary by vaccinated people outdoors OR indoors with a few exceptions (planes, hospitals, etc.) - Casinos are not in the excepted categories so BYE MASKS BYE

That doesn't override state mandate tho correct? If NV Gov and/or gaming still say masks required in casinos then it won't matter if you are Vaccinated or not. Right?

Correct - states have the final say. But states tend to follow the CDC guidelines so hopefully requirements for face diapers are going away soon at the poker table, though I imagine quite a few will still wear them.

Hopefully this finally quiets the "will there be masks at WSOP?" questions. No, unless the pandemic takes an unexpected turn (which of course we should never rule out), you won't need to wear a mask.

Nevada gaming regulators: Vaccinated casino patrons and workers no longer required to wear masks

"Nevada gaming regulators will allow casinos to decide their own mask policies after the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention on Thursday said individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 could resume activities without wearing facial coverings in indoor or outdoor settings.

In a statement, the Control Board said it followed the decision by Gov. Steve Sisolak, who aligned the state earlier this month with all CDC recommendations on mask usage, including any subsequent advice.

“The updated guidance on masks issued today by the CDC is effective immediately in Nevada,” Sisolak said."

Late Thursday afternoon, however, following the CDC’s announcement and Sisolak’s decision, Control Board Chairman Brin Gibson said in a statement that the agency’s “position regarding mask requirements for indoor and outdoor gaming floor areas would follow” the governor’s decision.

However, the Control Board said casino operators “may have mask policies that are more restrictive than the CDC guidance.” Regulators suggested casino employees “consult with their employers regarding workplace COVID-19 safety protocols.”

The Control Board is leaving the decision up to gaming operators if they wish to confirm a customer’s vaccination status. Casinos, however, are encouraged to post signage with the latest CDC mask guidance for vaccinated and unvaccinated guests."

The only paperwork a casino cares about features a photo of benjamin franklin.

Looking forward to wsop this year. I still contend that they should do away with these low buyin events. INTL crowds still make a sizable portion of the entries... Would be interesting to know how many INTL players show up and I also wonder if there will be caps on number of entries for events... For example.. youd hate to employ too many dealers and not enough players or have too many players not enough dealers. Maybe wsop should require or encourage pre reg?

I knew dealers that would fly out every summer to deal but have stopped doing so in recent years due to pay. Will be interesting to know how many do that this year?
