Lower attendance = higher chance of winning a bracelet.

Cheaper rooms and less competition with conventions in the hot, hot summer. I'd expect the fall '21 Series to be a once and done.

Well I am disappointed. Was hoping for a summer series. I get it though it's a weird year. A fall series in any normal year would do very poorly though. There is a reason the wsop is in the summer and has done so well. It' when people are able to take vacations and extended vacations easier and even taking weekend trips are easier as there isn't as much going on as opposed to other times of year. The fall is a non starter for most people. The idea is a little crazy that the average person is going to take off a week or two when kids are in school, its's peak fall social/football season, and were coming up to the holiday season. Sure it's hot in Vegas for the summer, but guess what? It's hot basically everywhere during the summer so may as well have some fun in Vegas... Will have to look at the schedule for the fall and maybe there's a few days I could go but those dates for the Main aren't ideal.

Why is everyone so convinced summer is the only time to take a vacation? You can literally take one at any point throughout the year. Are we just that conditioned to think only in summer?

And if you wait for summer because the kids are out of school and you decide to take them to Vegas every year so you can play in the WSOP, you’re doing it wrong.

Forego the summer vacation and take it in October. It’s really not that hard.

Who knows if summer is better than the fall or vice versa, but I'm excited to see what the attendance numbers look like. If fall>summer, I'd personally be very happy.

Play poker all week and bet football all weekend. Count me in

Yeah I think everyone has been conditioned to think of summer as vacation time. Like it or not that's just how it is. I think the dynamic of holidays being soon as well when people take vacations to see family is also an issue. For some people they aren't going to take a week to go travel/vacation in early November when the holidays are around the corner and they are traveling for that.

As far as the kid thing goes I'd imagine that it is more of I cant leave my spouse with all the duties of getting the kids to school and afterschool stuff while I go off and play poker. The summer is just less busy when it comes to stuff like that.

I agree, and brought that up some time ago in this thread. But there are some good counterpoints, like sectors of the economy that scale down for the summer (schools including university, government, some businesses), and there may be parents who come out on their own and it's easier when they're not having to run kids back and forth to school. I think summer is better for some, and worse for others. Definitely some conditioning involved for some who automatically assume summer is better for everyone.

I would think a fall schedule would cater more towards the older crowd. Based off of getting the highest numbers overall though the summer is the best time to do it in my opinion. Super interested to see what the numbers look like this year given all the dynamics that are going on. Also going to be interesting to see how the other series that are going to run during the summer do if they don't have significant covid restrictions and don't have to compete against the wsop.

Fall vacations are the second nuts.

Chance to catch an NFL fame in that new stadium on a WSOP trip sounds like a winner to me.

Sure! As for whether or not that's going to happen, we're all just speculating at this point.

That said, I don't want to imagine what's going on with this pandemic if masks are still mandatory at events in the US 6-7 months from now.

Zombies but they wouldn’t want to tell us and cause a panic.

Well, bearing in mind the no. of current worldwide infections, there is the very real chance of a mutation arising that escapes vaccine protection. There is also the likelihood of another 'wave' of infections as countries enter the colder months and of course, there is always the potential for zombies.

If we have learnt anything over the last 18 months, it is that trying to predict anything 6 months into the future during a pandemic isn't very easy.

If I understood this correctly and you're looking for a schedule one day after a tentative announcement to push this back to 6 months from now, um, you might want to think about how realistic that is. And that if there was one, it would've been posted here already.

Forgive me if I come across as rude, but all of that zombie talk has me rattled.

Don’t be rattled. The vaccine is what will turn everyone to zombies and, assuming you have or will get one, you’ll just be another walking rotting corpse looking for a couple of morsels of brains to munch on.

Three burning questions:

1) Will the govt mandate that all zombies must wear facemasks?

2) Will zombies be able to play in the WSOP without proof of vaccination?

3) What day have the WSOP scheduled the 'Ladies Only' event for and do you think they will add a 'Zombie Only' event if there is sufficient pressure on social media?

Also, fact of the matter is that most people live in more of a paycheck to paycheck mode. They do not really save, so when they wake up in September and look at their bank accounts it is not feasible for them to go to Vegas for a week and play a few tournaments costing a few thousands and then also have the necessary funds for Christmas. People can degen in the middle of the summer as they have recovered financially from the previous Christmas and they know they will have time to recover if their shot goes awry. On the other hand though, people may know they are getting a year end or Christmas bonus and just earmark it for the WSOP. So it could go either way.

Unless there is a strong, political anti-mask sentiment within the ranks of the people planning WSOP, I would assume facemasks will be required. It's such an easy, low-cost, non-intrusive intervention that large events are going to require them for a while yet. Frankly, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Plexiglass or caps on the number of entries would be a much bigger imposition.

Ugh, well so much for hoping to play some WSOP events this year.
Why would they schedule this entirely in the middle of the school year?
All you poker pros can expect the recreational audience to drop like 80% compared to the summer.
